As far as the gfx card is concerned, I'm reluctant to get the HD 4850 by HIS or Force 3d manufacturers since both are asian basedsquall_nemesis

Aren't all Nvidia and ATI partners from Taiwan ? Afaik all the video cards are made in Taiwan and shipped to other parts of the world. Or are you worried that if a problem occurs you have to ship your card to Asia ? All the reference HD4800 cards are built by ATI, the only differences are the sticker and the warranty length.

Are you using Vista ? It could be a Vista problem, look at the 4th and 9th post on that thread for a possible fix.

Edit: Oops my bad, not the same problem. It's only on the last post that there's mention of the atikmdag.dll file.

Try Speedfan and Core Temp. As for installing the cpu heatsink, i just push 1 pin until i hear a "click" sound and then i move on to the diagonally opposite pin. That's about it.

And Core 1 is hotter than core 0.bungie93

Same for me, Core1 is always 2-3C hotter than Core0. But a 10C difference is kinda strange.

[QUOTE="domke13"]Have u by any chance forced AA or AF in nvidia drivers?JP_Russell

yes I do would talking the AF off help things?

Most likely, yes. Try it and report back.

ok im up to 26FPS now

That's about right, then.

I think he should be getting more than 26 fps. They (Anandtech) used DX10 and had the shaders at very high, and I don't think the CPU they used is a big advantage over his E8400.

You better buy a power supply, like the Corsair 550VX, if you don't want to smell something burning coming from your case.
