Yes it's enough to power your system, but there's cheaper like the Corsair 550VX.

What risk ? It's easy as pie to replace a power supply.

Your 125$ hd3650 is a big waste of money. You fell for the 1 GB of vram gimmick.

My 150$ hd4850 destroys it.

Get the 4850, I'll be buying this one... http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16814127359

comes with a free copy of GRid and has a rebate.

If Crossfire is in your plans, don't buy the MSI because it doesn't come with a crossfire bridge.

Also, I see that alot of those reviews say that those video cards run hot or something--should I be worried? TecmoGirl

That's because the default fan speed is set to very low. There's a fan fix to raise the speed and it lowers the temps to 45-50C at idle and 60C under load. Or if you buy the Asus hd4850 it comes with a software to control the fan speed. It's nothing dramatic.

Video Card - http://www.overclockers.co.uk/showproduct.php?prodid=GX-091-PC ATI HD4870 1024MB From what i gather this card is competing with the 280 series and is much cheaper however offering similar bang for you buck. I will be playing at 1440*900 res, i see many comments on how if you are playing at lower res you dont need the 'best' card however I am looking for some future proofing here

mark_c_128

At 1440x900, you really don't need 1 GB of vram. Save some money and get the standard 512 MB version. Or better yet a single hd4850, and possibly add another one later for Crossfire if you get a bigger monitor.

5-10% doesn't warrant a 40 dollar premium, and those numbers are also based on pre-8.7.

Larrymon2000

Did I say it warrants a 40$ premium ?

You didn't even look at the Anandtech benchmarks before posting your reply. They used 8.7 beta so it's closer to 8.7 WHQL than Legit's 8.6. I don't see the 9800gtx+ being 5% faster like you said.

It's a bit better performing (on average, less than 5%)Larrymon2000

Anandtech doesn't agree with you.

If you don't plan on overclocking a lot, it would be a better idea to get the higher clocked and cheaper E8400.

That 900 case seems a little overpriced. Look at the Antec 300, Coolermaster RC 590 or RC 690.

The Asus HD4870 comes with a software to control the fan speed, so you wouldn't have to use the fan fix.
