Seems the 9800GTX+ beats it in Crysis and most games, and its the same price, and runs alot cooler doesnt have the overheating issues,, ?digitalman42

In most games ? show me.

hd4850 is cheaper than 9800gtx+.

No artifacing so no overheating issues.

Lots of misinformation in one sentence. Way to go.

Is the fan control software actually worth having? It would be more expensive then my current Gigabyte one.D_Knight_Nik

If it's 5-10$ more then i think it would be worth it. If the price difference is bigger then no, just use the fan fix.

With P45 both cards would be at x8.

Why not get 2x2 GB of ram ? It doesn't matter if Windows can't use them all, afaik there are no stability problems.

And i would get the Asus hd4870 for the fan control software and a better looking sticker than Gigabyte's ugly purple one.

[QUOTE="matrixian"]x16/x16 bandwidth on the pci-e slots for Crossfire. x8/x8 with P45. For a single video card, P45 is fine.TomTheSaint

Also, do you happen to know what kind of real performance impact that would have on the GPUs to be limited to 8x?

Intel P45 Vs. X48 Crossfire Performance from Tweaktown.

Took a look at your suggestions. Cut of 1/6 of the price but I went for two HD4870 istead of two HD4850. But is getting two 4870 worth approx €120 more?

galnefysikern

That depends on your monitor's size.

Unless you have many optical and hard drives, a mid tower case is good enough.

If Crossfire is in your plans, you should buy an X48 motherboard.

By the time nehalem becomes mainstream, ddr3 will be cheaper and have better specs. And it's not like you're gonna throw this computer away and take the ram and put it on an X58 mobo, right ?

I'm pretty sure it's only extreme nehalem this year and mainstream next year. Penryn is selling so well, they don't want to cannibalize on those sales.

I would suggest buying everything from directcanada.com for the free shipping. Or if you buy from Ncix, use the price match.

CPU 114$

Motherboard 64$

Corsair 550W power supply 84$ (no deal for the Seasonic at direct canada)

Antec 300 case 52$ (better cooling) or Coolermaster RC 330 40$

Video card 174$

RAM 56$ (use the 25$ MIR from NCIX)

Scythe fan 9$ (the two cases above need an additional fan)
