Brand Names: Do they mean anything to consumers?
Is it important what company is making the product you are about to purchase or will consumers buy anything from anyone, as long as it has some kind of appeal to them?
On that note, does brand loyalty exist? Nintendo got betrayed by consumers with the Gamecube, or was it Nintendo that turned against consumers? Does brand loyalty mean anything? Would you stick with the same company if they keep providing you entertainment?
I'm thinking brand name is important. You see things like the Ipod being more expensive than Creative or other MP3 brands yet the other brands offer more value for your cash and yet Ipod stands strong as the best selling MP3 player. Why? Brand name. Does this kind of idea exist in other market?
What do you guys think?

Absolutely. Having purchased an Xbox last gen and having it become plagued with disc reading errors, I grew very wary of Microsoft.
But having owned a Microsoft console last gen, I of course was going to give Microsoft's nextgen console a close look first before turning elsewhere. When the reports of failing launch 360 units started to arise (just days after launch I might add), I decided to wait before making a purchase decision.
And as more time passed, instead of improving, the problem actually got worse. (For a horror show, head over to the Xbox forums on the Xbox site itself)
So I decided to take my business over to Sony. Has their console been perfect? Of course not. I can name quite a few flaws that I would like to have addressed. But the device does what it's supposed to do: play games and play them consistently without hardware failure.
And in turn, I plan on making my nextgen console purchase another Sony.
