Getboth....The PS3's that Sony exchange with you are not refurbished. I had to exchange mine too and I asked more than one Sony rep specificly if the PS3 I get back is a refurbished one that another customer has returned and had been fixed and the answer was NO. The PS3's they exchange with you has never been in another customers hands, they are considered brand new and you wont find any scratches or anything to give evidence that it has been owned by anyone else. They call it a refurbished console because it is technically a FACTORY refurbished console meaning it is not "out of the store new" but up to Sony standards and from the factory/warehouse.nfglory

Umm...that's exactly the opposite of what I heard from two Sony reps. I called earlier on when my PS3 was having BluRay movie playback issues.

I had the choice of getting a brand new one, getting a refurbished unit from Sony, or sticking with my current unit. (I stuck with the last option as I found a fix for the problem)

The refurbished unit is one that has been returned to Sony (most likely for defect) which means it HAS been used. I was assured the refurbished systems have been fixed and extensively tested to ensure that there were no problems.

But the fact remains, why would I want somebody else's used garbage if I can get a brand new one?

i love my freakin PS3 i spent 17 hours in front of Toys R Us to preorder it and 5 minutes getting it Nov 17thPablo620

Wow...that's dedication!

I didn't get one at launch but rather waited until February of this year. Even at that time, most of the stores were sold out. I checked all the usual culprits: Best Buy, CompUSA, Costco, and Gamestop. All sold out. Still.

But then I got the suggestion to try at Toys R Us. Not a bad idea. Not too many parents walking into Toys R Us expecting to spend $600 for their kid. (console or otherwise)

And sure enough, there were still 5-6 units left! (all 60GB)

As recently as two weeks ago, primarily a BluRay/Marvel Ultimate Alliance player.

Since two weeks ago, the Oblivion disc hasn't left the disc slot. :)

I heard that ps2 games will burn in for plasmas. Also is gaming for ps3 in plasma good or will that burn in also. I saw the Hitachi plasma 42" for 1249 and that is a good deal. I know lcd's are better for gaming but too expensive. The good ones. Will plasmas work with ps2 games on the ps3 that is all I need to know. thanks.

LCDs are too expensive? I saw a 42" LCD at Costco the other day for well under a $1000.

Do you want Sony to rush an update and brick your PS3? It seems that Microsoft does that alot. I am perfectly happy that Sony takes their time and makes the updates seemless. eclipsed4utoo

Eclipsed brings up a good point. These updates, small and insignificant as some might consider them, are stable and constantly improving the system. That's definitely something I appreciate.

Yes, Killzone 2 is possible. Old news.

Who cares. Crysis and Unreal Tournament 3 already look better then it anyway. UT3 is what will push the PS3's power. Not stupid Killzone 2.

ONE DOES NOT SIMPLE ROCK INTO HELGAN!!!!!!!

Trust me. Killzone will be freaky awsome, like awsome invested into Band of brothers fricking cool. KILLZONE will be amazing.

Way to hype a game... :\

Shocking. Another negative comment.

Apparently, PS3 fans aren't allowed to get excited about games anymore.

Ever heard of Killzone 1? Since you probably never played it, it wasnt that good. I played it, it was ok.. Mediocre game.. read the reviews if you dont believe me. I for one am not that excited about it seeing how the first one wasnt so great. I however did enjoy the PSP game. I dont understand.. is this board so communist that if you don't absolutely jump for joy about everythign with the PS3, you shouldn't post? Cmon man..

ever heard of Halo 2? wasn't that good. mediocre game. does that mean that Halo 3 is going to suck also?

Agreed. I enjoyed the original Halo immensely but Halo 2 was a disappointment in my mind.

Does this mean Halo 3 is destined to be garbage as well?

Perhaps I should make my way on over to the Xbox360 board and start calling everyone who hypes up Halo 3 a fool?

Hmm...positive posts huh? I know someone who will not be joining us then. :D

I've owned a 60GB PS3 since February and I too have thoroughly enjoyed it. I was very impressed by the clarity of BluRay movies and the games I've played thus far: Resistance, Marvel (eh...I enjoyed it...most won't agree though :)), and Oblivion have all lived up to my expectations.

Awesome system.

D_Znuhtz

Marvel was well received on all platforms. It got good reviews, and was an even better game than the X-Men Legends Series. I don't think anyone would slag you off over Marvel. It is a great game.

That's good to hear. I enjoyed the X Men Legends series immensely so I figured it would be a good game to start off with. It definitely doesn't offer breathtaking graphics (after all, it was on last gen systems as well) but I enjoyed the gameplay quite a bit. There are those who don't particularly enjoy mashing the X button 10 million times though and I can agree with their viewpoint as well ;)

I believe the games won't be rolling out until the next Thursday update of the PSN store.
