The best thing?

Reliability.

I won't name other consoles here but I suffered from a lot of hardware problems last gen. Yes, my case was special as the particular console I had purchased was actually well-known for its reliability.

But that experience has taught me how much it sucks to boot up your system and have to pray every time that it works. That the games won't freeze right before you hit a save point. That you can pause a game to go out (e.g. a sports game) and come back 6 hours later without worrying that the entire thing has crashed.

Combine that factor with the style of games I like and the choice was easy.

just like the PS2 price dropped one year to 200 dollars and no one knew about. Sony is gonna suprise everyone with this price dropp just don't know when. Hopefully soon coz Sony is losing the battle in sales. :cry:

If you are worried about getting the most bang for your buck, then get it earlier. And when the inevitable price drop comes, just pat yourself on the shoulder and say that the $50, $100, $200 you lost in purchasing the machine earlier is easily made up with the time you spent with it.

So when the price drop comes, we'll say the extra 1 month-6 months we've owned the consoles was well worth whatever the price drop is. :P

You post on the PS3 board a lot for someone who claims there's no reason to get a PS3.

Thje only posts I ever made on why the PS3 isnt worth getting is because I stated its not worth getting YET. Now, I think it will come into its own.

So why the fence sitting? Either buy it or stick with your current system. 

I'm a avid gamer and I tear up consoles and pc's, in the sense that I use them hours on end, however give them ample breathing room. Just switched over from xbox 360 land and got a ps3 after my third xbox 360 died, between warranty and time for repair it's turned me away. It's not hard to take a hint that it was time. Is there anything other than the updates/firmware I need to know about ps3? No system bashing, this is what happened to me, just want only ps3 avid user/fanboy responses...I know what a xbox 360 fanboy would say because I "was" one!dreadphantom

Not that your old system wasn't good, but this one is better.

And reliability is a highly underrated feature of consoles if you ask me.
