$100 HDMI is not the same a $20 HDMI. Do some research plz The_Kills

I tried and I couldn't find any data suggesting that there is a gradation in quality of HDMI cables based on price. Could you provide me with a link?

The price drop is fine.

Adding a new SKU with better hardware is not.

I agree, if Sony pulls a Microsoft on us(putting out a better SKU with better hardware) I will be very mad.

Didn't Sony release a slim PS2 with built in internet port?

4 years later.

18 months and 4 years are two very different time scales.

The pevious model revisions added the remote, dvd-r and progressive scan.

Version 9 did that. By virtue of it being 9, I'm going to go ahead and say that it too, probably wasn't released 18 months after launch.

I am tired of people whining about the price of the PS3 too. Especially when Sony is lossing $200 on each PS3 sold. But with that being said, a price drop would be more of a mental thing than a financial thing when it comes to customers buying the PS3. Also you don't need a HDMI cable to enjoy the PS3 especially not a $100 one. You could get the official PS3 HDMI cable for only $59.99.d14m23

Or a monoprice one that carries the same digital signal for $5.99

You are Level 17. I assume you know how to click then right?

You should click on over to System Wars. Plenty of comparison threads. Albeit by rabid fanboys.

After you're done perusing there, feel free to click on over to the actual review written by GameSpot editors on each respective system. That'll be some good information.

Then, type PS3 review in Google. There, you'll find objective, well-written information without a) annoying PS3 users who are wary of trolls here and b) incurring moderation upon yourself.

Have a fantastic tomorrow!

you should check out system wars yourself, you cant get any help there. Its a war zone, nothign but bashing and bashing.

True. But that's where comparison threads belong.

Putting them here is an invitation for System War-like bashing from fans of both consoles.

Let the flaming begin...

snipe2004

No flaming necessary. Good article.

Points 4 and 5 are particularly effective.

An awful feeling to see an improved version offered only 18 months after system launch if one was a hardcore early adopter. An improved version, alas, that doesn't fix the original unit's most glaring flaw: hardware failures.

more/better games.

cheaper

and..

you can get a warrenty if it breaks.

i heard those ps3 break down as well. and you should buy one only to sell on EBAY.

silly!

You should come back when you own a PS3. Otherwise, the forum you are looking for is called System Wars.

will this chip make current ps3 owners a little like out of date making the new ones less acceptable to over heating or things like that?Robotron92

Out of date? Possibly. If you currently hold a unit that overheats right now (unlikely) or you cannot afford to pay the pennies more of electricity the current version of the Cell costs you (also unlikely considering you had to spend $500-$600 to pay for the system)

The new ones will be just like the old ones. Except they cost less for Sony to make. Which in turn could lead to a price drop.
