My top 3 most anticipated PS4 games on this list is Ghost of Tsushima, Last of Us 2 and the Resident Evil 2 remake. The rest I will probably play on either my PC or Xbox X. Some of them I doubt will even be released on PS4, Elder Scrolls 6 is probably far off into the future, at least 3 years or more.

@Fernin-Ker:The problem for me is that when you have a first person character that is voiced you lose that sense of being you who is actually controlling the character. In games like Skyrim, Fallout 3 and New Vegas you could easily project yourself onto the player character as the only voice you heard during dialogue was the NPC and your own voice inside your head reading the options. But once they moved to a voiced character in Fallout 4, that sense of self was replaced by a more defined character that you had less control over. Sometimes the dialogue options you picked was in a tone or even wording that you might not have wanted. Perhaps it was more aggressive than you thought it would be or less so. Anyways, it sometimes created a disconnect between the player and the more pre-defined personality of the protagonist.

Now I am not saying it is inherently wrong to have a voice for your character in first person, but you also lose the freedom of truly projecting yourself onto that character. So personally when there is a first person view and I am the one doing dialogue choices and making decisions, I would prefer to have no voice as that creates a disconnect between myself and the character.

Which is why I prefer third person view in RPGs like this, as instead of taking direct control of the character I am more like the director of a movie, making choices for the actors. Now instead of making choices for my character as it is myself doing those choices, I do them based on what I want that character to be. I am not longer projecting myself onto the character as much as I would in a first person perspective.

You also gain a fairly important aspect to character building when you see them in third person, and that is their body language and facial expressions. This has become much more important in the last year as the technology has become better. For instance, Witcher 3 had moments where Geralt did not really say anything, but the feeling and the intentions came across only by reading the facial expression and the body language. And sometimes the NPCs reacted to that, making the interactions feel more natural than most games. I feel these things make the protagonist much more memorable.

I personally can't really think of any protagonist in a first person game that is truly deep or memorable. Now that being said I think that while Witcher 3 was a game about a personal journey for a very defined character. Cyberpunk 2077 will be more focused on the world and the player is just along for the ride. I don't really expect much depth from out protagonist because of that perspective. Sure they have some cutscenes from time to time, but that just makes it even more disjointed to me. If they somehow makes me truly care for the character I am supposed to be in the game, then they will accomplish something no other developer has when it comes to first person games.

That being said, I am very excited for the game, the world and the story is what pulls me towards it. But the gameplay does not really amaze me as i feel I have seen this type of gunplay before in other games. In the end, it comes down to preference. Would I prefer for it to be in third person? Of course, will that stop me from playing it? Of course not.

@brazuca: I don't know. It is much harder to recast someone after they have played a role for more than one movie. I remember hating the third Mummy movie because they recast Evelyn. It just did not feel like a real sequel, the chemistry was completely off. Once you have found a cast that works great together, and one of them quits or is recast down the line, it usually goes the wrong way.

@judaspete: Well they had to bring him back if they are going to continue their mission off killing all the characters from the original trilogy.

@Mogan: One thing I really hated about DA2 was the lack of interesting locations, there where just way too much backtracking through the same locations over and over again. I also hated how buggy the imported save feature was, kinda have to use mods to have a fully functional imported save for the game.

Besides that I really enjoyed that game, it had fun combat, great characters and an ok story. The game also had a very good atmosphere to it that made it really stand out to me, something about the music and the mood in the city just clicked with me.

I do like Origins more as I just think that story is more exciting and well the characters in that game are some of my favorite characters in any games to date. And while I think I like the visuals of the combat more in DA2, the classes lacked any real depth to them. There was just so many interesting ways to play in DAO that was lost in DA2.

I really like the Dragon Age series, I also loved Inquisition, perhaps more than both the other games. I really hope the next Dragon Age game is something truly spectacular. But then again, EA has their nasty paws so deep in Biowares pockets that I am very skeptical about their future.

@rmpumper: Very true. Steam sales used to have these insane flash sales and crazy discounts. But games have become more expensive over the last few years and the sales are never as good as they used to be.

There is no question, New Vegas was much better as it had improved gameplay, a more interesting world and it felt much more like a true sequel to Fallout 2 than Fallout 3 did. Something about the atmosphere in Fallout 3 just felt off to me while New Vegas felt like a truly spiritual successor to the old games, just with a different perspective.

And it gave me a look into a side of the Fallout universe that I found more refreshing than Fallout 3 did. I also found the story and the factions to be way more interesting than the boring I have to find "insert person" type story. I found it kinda lazy that they did such a similar premise for Fallout 4, just another find missing person story.

But both are good games, although New Vegas is the game I spent the most time with. But I do have to add that I did not play it at launch, it took me almost 2 years before I played it and so I did not have to deal with a lot of bugs.

So we are going to play a Spartan with no shield and a broken spear.... Is it just me or is something just very wrong with that?

I hope it won't split the playerbase, they may end up destroying their own game. Personally I don't get the appeal, and I hate that everyone has to jump on the bandwagon. I don't want this battle royal crap to turn into the FPS version of moba where every damn FPS is just trying to be the next big battle royal game. Mobas has made the RTS genre stagnate and innovation has truly taken a dive over the last 10 years.
