I got this game for the PS3, and I'm almost positive that beside a few graphical enhancements, the game is virtually the same as the PS4. So far I'm at Chapter 8 and despite the fact that I like the underlying IDEA behind the game, the goals, ambition, most action elements, and general presentation and atmosphere, what gets on my nerves is the game's overall cheap trial-and-error gameplay. The game is annoyingly cheap many times, and having to wait for long reloads, replaying the same sections over and over again gets very frustrating and tiresome very fast. It would be one thing if it were my SKILLS that caused me to die all the time, like in a game like Ninja Gaiden. No, instead it's about the somewhat clunky controls, cheap kills, and puzzles which give you a 50/50 chance at solving them or dying at random. It makes the whole game a chore, and besides the atmosphere keeping me tense, it's more trying not to die so I don't have to replay sections over again that scares me the most. I'd agree with this review.
@markranger Yea, we've been saying that for over a decade. Fat chance if we'll ever see it. Designers these days are more profit-focused than any other time in gaming history, so anything that even hints at old school gameplay or graphics they'll just shove off as unmarketable. Hardcore fans are no longer the priority. I for one would absolutely buy that game too.
I don't care what anyone says, I LOVED this freaking game. I pre-ordered the Anthology for PS3 on Amazon (not that crap Archives for the 360). Totally surpassed my expectations and those who give it so much hate are holding on way too much to the past. Sure there were issues but they were mostly minor, and people kept looking at the surface at these stupid little flaws and overlooking the things that made the game great. I'm def looking forward to the next game.
Since I can only afford ONE system, it has always been the Playstation. I had the PS1 back in the day and I've always loved the games more than Nintendo or Xbox. So I'll easily get that on top of the Xone.
I'm psyched, I have the Special Edition package on preorder from Gamestop and am seting to pick it up on Friday the 14th, should make for an entertaining weekend! On another note, all you people need to relax and get out more. Why are gamers so freakin vulgar? chill...
I JUST bought GT5 XL, and am enjoying it, despite the fact that some of my personal fave cars are missing. I really wish they would have waited for the PS4 for this one, I don't see a reason why they would keep it on PS3.
