I HIGHLY doubt we'll see $299, it's just too low a price especially for this type of hardware (granted Sony's history of past overpriced handhelds being that much). I would better predict either 1 model selling at AT LEAST $499, or two differernt models - one perhaps at $399, and one at $499 (I'm not sure if Sony will be dumb enough to pull that $599 price point they had with the lauched PS3, but you never know... if it does, there is NO WAY I'm buying at launch).
I still have my PS2 hooked up, and that give me the PS1 backwards compatibility I need. Plus I play it in a separate room from my PS3 (which is what I prefer), so even IF my fat old school PS3 could play those old games, I probably wouldn't use it for that anyway. When this releases, I'm probably going to move my PS3 into another room, and use my big room for the PS4.
No sense in buying early. There are always those early bugs, frustrations with customer service, as well as just a small handful of games. I usually wait at least 1 year. Unless I fall into some major money, I don't see myself getting this on day 1 or even month 1 either.
No backwards compatibility? Unbelievably freaking LAME. If the new Xbox has that, it's going to be a major selling point on their part. I understand that they are probably doing this so that they make more money on PS "Classics" downloadable games, and other extras that may come along with it, as well as still being able to sell PS3 units, but it's still lame. This is a smart move business-wise, but for gamers it just sorta takes away the "by the people for the people" magic of video games that we had back in the day.
It's very exciting to see exactly how actual gameplay will look, not to also mention all the extras and features on the actual console. The controller is very interesting as well... but I feel it's way too early to really make any brash assumptions.
This is still very early to tell how much the PS4 will impress people graphically. Like, way too early. Yea it looks on surface like something that can be done now mostly, but I say wait about 10 months and if you're not impressed then, only know that games only get BETTER the older a console is.
I say bring it over to the WiiU, fix as much of the crap as possible, and then give it a sub name that differentiates it from the PS3/Xbox bomb. Something cute like "Game Over, Man Edition." Put in some good extras and they'll be set. If it's good enough it could be a system seller for Nintendo action FPS fans
Mr. VanOrd, either you need to get your head examined, or you should be fired from Gamespot. Why? Well, once again, you have stated thing in your review that are simply and utterly false. It's obvious that you have a biased agenda and are the only one in the entire company responsible for this review, without anyone to actually play the game and hold your information accountable. Is this a bad game? No. Is this a good game? Not particularly. BUT the reasons it isn't all that great are NOT for the reasons stated in this review. Perhaps the biggest lie told in this review is regarding the game's difficulty. This game on the Hard difficulty and Extra Hard difficulty are an enormous pain in the a** to get through. I cannot tell you how many times I have died already just trying to get past the first 2 levels. The game is hard because it's cheap, but it's definitely not easy. In fact, it's frustrating due to being so cheap. So for anyone who wants the truth of this game ,do not listen to his review.
