I'm excited about finishing this one, but like any other fan who has played the former 4 games, you will miss as I do the old Dante (not Nero). There was something appealing about bulkier characters, a more refined strategic system of 4 fighting styles, more difficult dodging mechanism (L1 + analog in DANTE'S direction with X?) and the more romantic and Victorian atmosphere. I also liked that the old Dante didn't have to curse in order to portray his bada**ery, he was above that. But I do accept the new Dante and like the more twisted and darker art visual style of the new game. Am excited to see where further sequels will go.
Ok, attention potential buyers and RE Fans - IGNORE THIS REVIEW!! Instead, check IGN for a more comprehensive, fair, and even TRUTHFUL review. Kevin VanOrd tells a downright LIE in this review when he says that in the span of a few minutes you'll only shoot a limited amount of zombies and it's virtually all cut-scenes. Not true! I've played about 4 hours already on Leon's campaign and there are PLENTY of areas with no cut-scenes. This game really has lots of innovative features and design choices, it's def the most ambitious of all RE games, but you can tell what Capcom was trying to do. New ideas, new dynamics, innovation! Some things I wasn't into (like the less than intuitive control scheme), but there def ARE survival horror aspects. Look, this is one of those mixed review games, where one guy will say a 9 and another will say a 4. But this Gamespot review is REALLY off the mark. Trust me, I've been an RE fan since I was 13 and have played through and beaten EVERY RE game that has been released. I know what I'm talking about. To the hardcore fans - BUY THIS. To the newcomers, check IGN for a better review before making your final decision. I love Gamespot, but shame on you for this review!
Ok, by doing this Gamestop may actually begin to start DEVALUING lots of these vintage games that collector's know and love. I mean, lots of people go through either ebay, thrift stores, pawn shops, garage sales, and flea markets in order to try and snag value vintage games. By Gamestop stocking them regularly (through perhaps customer trade-ins), they may either inadvertently devalue retro games, or not make any sales at all. If I can find vintage games for $4 a piece at a flea market, why would I bother spending $40 on it at Gamestop because it rivals Amazon prices? Chances are they'll be left with a huge stock of common titles that nobody will buy.
This came doesn't look bad at all. I don' t think I'd dislike it this much if I played it, although some things he says I can believe, typically these Mario sports games are fun and easy to get into
