Interesting how this article doesn't mention how this non-optional patch,

• breaks borderless windowed mode
• renders old saves incompatible
• and forces you to install Epic Online services to play the game you already paid for.

This isn't just annoying, it's illegal.
And GameSpot should be doing a better job,
instead of just raking in Epic's CCP money to fawn over them.

I never watched more than a handful of episodes,
but I played Pokémon Blue when I was a kid (on an un-backlit GameBoy Color)
and was very aware of the defining role Pokémon played in an entire generation.
The sound effects and music from that game still give me shivers (in a good way).
This is a historical moment, for sure.
But in a way I'm glad that some writers these days
