Note this system was build roughly 2 years ago.
Intel I5-2500k (overclocked)
16gb Corsair Vengeance ddr-1600.
Gigabyte mobo. (Z68 chipset)
Corsair Hx-850 PSU.
Corsair SSD (GT555)
Backup HDD 7200rpm 1tb
Twin Nvidia GTX560Ti's (Msi twin frozr factory overclocked version) (in sli, obviously)

Took my current pc as base (as some parts don't need to get replaced (already have high grade ram / good psu / case etc. etc.)

An intel upgrade kit. (New mobo + GTX 780ti + I7 4771 + Cooling, new ssd new hdd) will set me back about 1400 euro's

An Amd upgrade kit (New mobo + R9 290x + AMD FX-9590 + cooling, new ssd new hdd) will set me back rougly 1250 euro's

Huzzah. And this is with 1gfx card (as lets face it, with the 2 noted above you currently only need 1)

Also for the sake of not going balistic... limiting the GPU to 2.0 setup. Thus 2 gfx cards in crossfire or sli.

Also just saw a 900 dollar intel cpu... not going that extreme on my build... may make 2 builds for the hell of it... an amd / Radeon build and a Intel / Nvidia build.

And yes for 1800$ you can buy a pretty damn high end system.

Actually interested to see what i could build now taking regular webstores as source... no custom parts. Will get back to you on that (just for the hell of it).

Price dropped then? or was that the xbox one? i recall one system costing more than 3000$ there at release... which is what they earn in what? 3 months?
