We all know MS doesnt want to cut the price before the holiday season because all of the games being released. But people are gonna see the Xbox 360 premium for $400 and next to it the PS3 60GB for $500 , Just a $100 difference , so they´re gonna go with the PS3

xscrapzx

It's actually a $50 difference assuming you want to play online.

no its not.

Xbox premium $400 and Live $50 = $450.

PS3 and Free online= $500.

I guess you could go

Xbox core $300, memory card $30 and Live $50 = $380

but if you wanted to play the GTA4 exapansion you would need to drop another $100 later on bringing you up to $480.

didn't the cows bash the original xbox cuz it's nothing but shooting and racing games...now look at you guys all you can talk about is a FPS and a racing game

chikenfriedrice

Cows have actually been talking about multiple shooter games: Killzone 2 which looks amazing, Unreal Tournament console exclusive which looks better than Gears, and Haze for some reason.

I'm not sure what the genre is called but Heavenly Sword, Ninja Gaiden Sigma and DMC4 all fall into that category I love.

There's Rachet and Clank which is already one more good friendly game than the 360 will get this entire year.

Drake's Fortune also seems to be getting some great hype.

Ok firstly, all this talk about mods being poo etc etc...W......T.....F.

I never said they were bad! Show me where I said they were.

Have you played some of the mods out there for HL2/Unreal/GTA/oblivion/stalker??? Im guessing not, theres like 30 easily for HL2 that are FREE, some of which have made themselves into standalones...so again.....WTF? They have more of a booming community than some retailed marketed games!! THis CANNOT be your basis of an argument because the evidence against you is enough to make you cry uncle.

Why would the most talented modders want to not expand their audience? It was huge popularity that broughtmoney to Counter Strike developers.

The quality of PS3 mods are and will not be in the same league as PC mods, PC modders originate from PC's ...duh... and PS3 modders in the bulk will have to be PC enthusiasts because lets be honest about the console communnity shall we...:? no offense :) My point is, unless they really really want to, i dont see PC users getting their hands dirty over a system that they probably dont own and would care to concentrate their time on, im sure they would rather spend their time modding PC games....because thats the system of choice for them in the 1st instance.

I guess I'm differentiating between 'I mod things because it's fun to mess around with' and 'I mod because I want to eventually be a professional game designer.'

At the end of the day, it prooves a valid point about the PC community if from what you said was true nnavidson, this being PS3 modders would be vastly PC users/modders, so what does this say to you about PC gaming/community? To me it says alot.

I think it's clear as seen by the popularity of FPS that PC owners drive the video game market. They're basically early adopters which means that they're the true die hards of gaming. I know this is system wars and we're not supposed to talk intelligently, but all gamers should respect the PC even if they think it;s too much investment for them at the time.

Like you, there are tons of people who don't want to update their computer. Microsoft stands to make millions though by people upgrading to Vista. That additional content will be held off for a long time assuming it ever comes out. I might be wrong, but Microsoft will go after what makes them the most money.

What will make them people are the millions of Xbox 360 Gear ownersto the Zero of Gear PC owners. Give everbody what they want and you get overall happiness...and marketshare. :)

Anyone who was going to buy the 360 for Gears has already done so. The majority anyway.

The hardcore Gears fan is going to want more. Xbox could sell the exapnsion on live for $20 bucks even and will likely have to split the money with Epic.

If you need to buy Vista to get it, they stand to make at least a hundred dollars off each convert. They also expand their Vista numbers which makes people more likely to use further new Microsoft products which makes share holders happy.

[QUOTE="nnavidson"] We do like to show our work, but the second someone acts all high and mighty then I'm not going to share it to them. if someone says, "Thanks for your hard work noob, my system is teh bettorz!" you can bet your sweet *** I won't give them jack.Vandalvideo

More realistically you'd get thousands of people going, Wow this map was awesome, someone comes in and says, did you know that was actually user made, and you get an explosion of, "Wow, I wish I could do that." Of that explosion some might actually invest in a PC and start making mods of their own to get a similar reaction.

It just seems lik there should be a nice flow.

Official developers are considered pro, PC gamers/modders are considered at a semi pro, and console users are the audience.

[QUOTE="nnavidson"]As far as Vista, what about Gears or Viva?Vandalvideo
Gears hasn't been confirmed as Vista only yet. Same goes for Viva that did Halo. Why would you purchase Vista for an old game that you can get cheaper on another platform? Its just silly. About the mod community: We do like to show our work, but the second someone acts all high and mighty then I'm not going to share it to them. if someone says, "Thanks for your hard work noob, my system is teh bettorz!" you can bet your sweet *** I won't give them jack.

Oh... I didn't mean to come off as "my system crushes yours." When I see Crysis I drool. The problem is I don't want to have to worry about how well a game is optomized for my set up. I want to see the label, put it in, and know I'm getting the exact experience the developers knew I was going to get.

The thing is, why would PC Modders, bother *Limiting* thier mods to the hardware of the PS3 ... its not going to be a ssimple as make something, then port it over, you have to follow a strict guide-line in order for it to run properly on the PS3 ... why would modders waste thier time seriously?Meu2k7
So more people could experience them?

[QUOTE="Vandalvideo"][QUOTE="nnavidson"]The thing about the mod community is I don't have the talent to make something worthwhile. The same is true with many PC players. I figured people make mods because they want people to be impressed with what they've accomplished. i would assume the mod community would gladly expand the people who saw their material if they were able.As far as Vista... What if you want to play Halo 2?Greyhound222
Share...with a select audience. I myself work on mods all the time. If someone is going to be upity and snooty about it, why should I give them anything? Answer? I won't. Halo 2? A few years old game is your reason for going Vista? 0_o double 0_o

Agreed.Though will the mod-making be compromised just so PS3 owners can get their fill? Also,Vandal, join my Union.

I posted the two PS3 examples in response to consoles will never get mods or map makers.

The problem with mods is a lot of the awesome ones involve some sort of copyright infringement that would mean the original developer has to ignore their existance. I'm not sure how it would work when consoles seem to have closed services, We'll see I guess.
