Yeah...let's not talk about when the PSN got hacked. *face twitches slightly*

The very first PS3 game I ever played was MGS4, and I remember thinking then how it was perhaps one of the best looking games I'd ever played. Snake's mustache was such a fine example of in-game facial hair- at least until The Last of Us and Joel's beard came along. And they were called HD-DVD's Chris. I remember how those didn't last very long at all. xD

Also, I have a confession to make- though I've owned a PS3 for six years, I have never earned a Platinum trophy yet. Sad, I know. :/

@chincky Having played the game through (twice now) I can agree with Tom that it has some minor issues, but not enough to drop the score to an 8. But of course, all reviews are entirely subjective...

Just wait and see how many GOTY nominations it gets when that time comes around though. :p

@N2NOther Well if you actually look around his house during the prologue you can see some construction plans/schematics in his bedroom and other places, and then when they set off in Tommy's car later you can see a pick-up truck with those side cages on for piling up construction materials.

So yes, likely a construction worker. Not a contract killer. :p

I am loving the Factions mode- when Chris says its tense and brutal, he's right cause it's essentially a microcosm of the single player campaign- you try and run in there like a COD deathmatch and you'll be murdered pretty quickly. YOU HAVE TO TAKE YOUR TIME if you want to do well. I mean I was doing pretty well in expanding my clan, then I had a couple bad games and all of a sudden 25% of them are sick and hungry. And that makes me sad, because it makes you feel as though you have to succeed to provide for these people.

@NIGHTWOLF1210 I suppose that is true- of course, if I was put in that position to either save this one person I care about or sacrifice them to save the many...I'd hate to be put in that position.

Joel says at once point 'sacrifice the few to save the many'...but still. :/

@DaRq_MiNoS Exactly. There were parts throughout the game where I though 'Wow Joel, you are being a complete bastard right now' (like that argument he has with Ellie in the ranch), but then I realize that he pretty much lost everything he cared about twenty years ago. I can't even imagine what that was like for him.

But what he did at the end- betraying the Fireflies and all of mankind to save this one girl- that just seems incredibly selfish.

My personal take on the ending is that Joel's actions are utterly selfish- he's just screwed over the whole of mankind in getting a cure just so he can save this one girl- sure, we've all grown attached to her over the events of the game, but the impression I got from some dialogue choices was that she was willing to do whatever it took. She's not even your biological daughter Joel- you'll never get HER back.

And then when he lies to her face right at the end, by her reaction it's clear she doesn't believe him 100%. When she says 'okay', it's as though she's saying 'I don't believe you, but this is how things are in this world'. It's like she's not naive anymore.

@Krelian-co Or 'contract work'- like he's a mob assassin. xD

Though his house is conspicuously well-furnished...

I realize that Chris is right- at the end Joel's just screwed over the rest of mankind just so that he can have something to hold onto in Ellie- even though she was the one who was determined to get all the way to begin with- so she could help mankind. And when he lies to her face on that hill at the very end, I'm pretty sure by her reaction that she doesn't believe him, she just accepts this is how it has to be.

Also, when I burst into THAT hospital room at the end, I only shot the one doctor with the scalpel. I left the other two because they weren't armed, and it didn't feel right (even though I'd murdered about two dozen Fireflies to get that far but they were shooting at me...).

I'd also like to point out it has perhaps one of the best opening prologues I've ever played in a video game- really draws you into that world and then just shatters it in an instant.
