Guys, really. Look at the graphics not compared to previous games, but as a stand-alone. The graphics look great. Huge environments, different art style, and 60 FRAMES PER SECOND. 60 FPS is extremely hard to achieve. So yes. I think they need a new generation of hardware to really expand graphically. That goes for any game.
@burnettaj It hasn't been in development for 12 years. That's just the amount of time passed since the last game. They've been working on other games along the way.
I just want devs to come to the 21st century and make all their games 60 frames per second. I mean, come on! Call of Duty has been doing this since 2005. I'm hoping for that CoD killer, or at least another game to compete with it, and the 60 frames per second has a lot to do with it.
For the people saying that this is the same engine. Look at the trailer again. Those environments are enormous. Entire buildings are falling with all small, tiny pieces falling along with it. The explosions, the debris, the fire, the destruction, the particles all look vastly improved. I don't think many know this, but fast moving events such as the train scene in the trailer, is difficult for an engine to handle. Just think of the scale of this game to judge the engine, not just the way it looks. All at 60 frames per second? They have clearly made some improvements on the engine. It's an impressive feat by most standards. My point is, they haven't been just sitting on their asses using the CoD2 engine. Another thing I wanted to say is why can't we play both CoD and BF? Is it really that mind blowing of an idea? Just play BOTH games!! Why do we have to make this a war? It's so simple!
It won't work. The world doesn't care about 3D at the moment. Right now, people see 3D as just a gimmick and a waste of money. There are two DS's on the market now and both of them were released recently. It's incredibly saturated. Nintendo doesn't have enough developer support at the moment. Games will be more expensive to make and likely more expensive to sell. Honestly, the iPhone and the iPod touch are better competitors in the portable gaming market. Great display, updates, REALLY cheap games, and it does a lot more than games. Just think people, why buy a 3DS for 250$ when an iPod touch is 200$ and it does more for less?
