Though I don't completely hate fan service, for the most part I could do without it. It typically doesn't move the plot forward and often has the discomfort of including prepubescent characters that you're supposed to believe are 18+. When the internet is offering up nudes and figurines of pretty much any anime character that you can think of, it seems unnecessary to throw in anything other than mild contextual fan service.
@petey_olivarez: I'm not sure that explanation would guarantee a passing grade. Then again this whole string is based off a reply to "Suck it Xboner One!" Sooo . . .
@petey_olivarez: Does Sony leading in sales make you a happier customer? I guess you can get some of that iphone joy. Of course while iphone lovers were bragging about their iphone, android users were enjoying a feature rich, vastly more open phone. I guess uh, to each their own.
@usmc_jesse: Honestly, getting a controller that doesn't suck, and the game justified the purchase alone. After using the new controller for a day I replaced all of my existing controllers. I knew the connectivity was infinitely better when I accidentally turned my Xbox one on from one floor and 3 rooms away. At the time I did the upgrade the game was $70, and the controller was $70. That's a saving of $40 right there.
HDR makes a noticeable difference in games, especially ones that love dark scenes. It was so nice to be able to play Elder Scrolls Online and not have to adjust my brightness every time night fell. Then again you do need to have a TV that is HDR compatible.
@Barighm: I'm not sure what you two see in there but all I see is a comment about improved customer retention.
Also, who would choose multiple custom services that work all independently and require individual customization each time something needs to be available across all of the platforms, when they could set up one interface that works across all of them? What about the third party devs? What do you think they would want?
Simplicity leads to cost reduction, leads to profitability. That's ignoring the fact that users are happy to access the same stuff from everywhere.
Why would they not want to build a name and value for their service?
I love how Sony fans always jump between Sony being this massive powerhouse and it being the sweet innocent protector of all gamers. Both companies share a love for money. If you've got a problem with that, then maybe you should develop your own console. Don't forget to offer everything for free.
