So my birthday's next week and I'll probably get 2 games, the first will most likely be company of heroes gold eddition but the question is what will the second one be?? I've narrowed it down to 3 finalists: World in Conflict, Sins of a Solar Empire and I just added GTA IV to the list now that it's out and getting soo much praise. Here are my pros and cons for each, I just can't decide which I like best.
WiC
pros: Very action oriented, good graphics, lots of explosions, new take on RTS genre.
cons: Doesn't seem to have as much depth as other RTS games, which could decrease longevity. Doesn't seem like there's any kind of skirmish where you aren't locked into the ****thing and are forced to work with your team. May feel a little too similar to COH since they're both war games
SoSE
pros: Space themed, huge scale, interface that makes managing a huge empire much easier, lots of depth, slow paced, no micromanagement of units, stardoc's approach to copy protection (hand's off, don't need disc to play once installed)
cons: You feel a bit detached from the action and it's not as exciting, slow pace could make it boring after awhile
GTA IV: I can't really list the pros and cons because I've never really played any GTA games in the past. Back then I was younger and didn't like the idea of playing a crime simulator, now I'm older and that doesn't both me as much. The whole open world setting seems really neat and the city is simply enormous. There just seems like there's so much to do that it could last me a very long time compared to most games. I'm not a huge fan of gangster games but at the same time I kinda think that I have totry this game to really enjoy it. After all, I like driving around, I like shootouts and there just seems like there's so much to do, even if the subject matter isn't at the top of my list. I know I shouldn't cave in to the hype but when a game gets 10's (or even 9+) on review sites I take it to mean that the game is good to the pont where someone who isn't an established fan of the genre could try it and enjoy it. I just wish I could try the game out first but oh well.
Any help would be greatly appreciated :)
Edit: Would like to point out that this is exactly why these mega threads are terrible. I made this post yesterday, no one answered, and every post above mine is seperated by a day at least. If we were allowed to just post our topics here or whereever we'd get our question answered fast and that would be the end of that. I can sort of undertstand making a mega stickied thread for a huge release (like GTA IV) since most of the discussion is focused on the game in general and the quesyions people ask are pretty generic. But this is just raking it too far. I want ot make a post here on GGD because I didn't want the responses skewed because I was posting in a specific game board, but apparently that's not allowed anymore. On a gaming site I can't even make a thread asking for game recomendations, I have to post in huge thread t he no one posts in and/or my post get's ignored completely. I realize that I could post it in my blog, the thing is no one bothers to answer any of my posts and the point is to pose my question to a large group of people, not just the people on my friends list.
/end rant
[QUOTE="primehunter326"]omg I've always wanted to try TF2! Good thing I just happened to decide to jump on the PC board now loldarkmagician06xbox version is gimped compared to pc version....trust me i know. so dont get the xbox version
and what would make you think I was planning of getting the xvox version (if I get it at all)? Now that I have a decent gaming rig I'll never need to buy another shooter for my X360 again.
[QUOTE="primehunter326"]I never got a clear answer ot my question before so I'll ask again. Is the sex stuff in GTA IV optional for the most part? I'd also like to know if the multiplayer allows for guest sign in and /or local play. Thanks.AtomicBaconBitsThe sexual content is optional...and no,there's no local multiplayer or co-op missions.
Cool thanks for the info. Like I said I've never really gotten into GTA but with all the hype this has gotten I decided to check it out and I'm starting to see what's good about it (though I always regarded GTA is a good franchise, just was never into it myself). That's too bad there's no local multiplayer or guest sign in, it would fun to go online with another person on your xbox and wreak havok on everybody but oh well. Tryin to decide whether to ge this game and if so to get it now or wait a bit. Having a birthday in a week makes it a hard decision lol.
the violence/drugs/profanity don't bother me, I'm just wondering if it's possible to avoid the things I mentioned for the most part if I choose to.
Also when I said I wasn't into crime, I meant that that's what turned me away from GTA in the past because I just didn't like the whole idea behind it.
