Also people who call themselves a manticore is just too insecure andis too worried about everyone liking them to say they have a favourite. It is impossible to be unbiased and completely neutral.

It'll be interesting to see the sales numbers at the end of the year, MS should have a pricedrop on the 360 to at least make the core cost as much as the Wii (and they could lower it even more in Japan,I'm pretty sure they did that last gen) and couple that with the huge titles coming out this year (especially Halo 3 and themany JRPGs)and I think MS with some breaks and good marketing could come out on top this gen. Only thing I'm worried they will do is be too conservative with any price cuts/deals to make sure they turn a profit.

you forget that the wii could also drop its price and it also has killer games in the pipeline. If you ask me the ps3 and 360 are screwed and are merely fighting for 2nd place

Thats why I said MS could do it with some breaks. And I don't think the upcoming Wii games have the mass appeal of the 360's (although no one really knows what the Wii's user base will buy these days) so it could just come down to marketing. But MS could easily drop the 360's price by $100 (they were apparently making a $70+ profit per unit back in november so it should be over $100 now) and that would do some good in Japan with the various JRPGs and Capcom games out for it, especially if they give it an even bigger price cut like they did with the Xbox in Japan.

the nintendo console will outsell ms console in japan almost no matter what. droping the core price to 200 won't phase the wii much especially since they have the option to drop the wii to 150 or 100. And nintendo games have much more appeal than ms games. MS has halo for mass appeal but not much else.

Nintendo would never drop the Wiis price a cent as long as it sells the way it does, and they rely too much on the profit they gain from the Wii's sale to drop it to $150 or $100 this soon, even $200 would be iffy. Plus with its success in NA and to an extent Europe, the 360 doesn't need to outsell the Wii in Japan, but a $150-200 core360 with all the capcom games, mistwalker games, Forza 2and other JRPGs is a pretty good deal. Like I said before, its hard to say what games are going to sell on the Wii, considering Wii Sports and Wii play are the systems highest selling games over flagship titles like Zelda and Mario (even if it is SPM). I highly doubt MP3 will sell well, SMG is iffy, the only lock to sell well IMO is SSBB. Meanwhile the 360 will have Halo 3, the various sports titles (could be an advantage depending on the Wii versions) and GTA (360 has the advantage over the PS3 here because of its price), plus some of the more hardcore games could still sell very well if they are marketed right.

I'm not saying its a lock for the 360 to win, just that its consievable that either the Wii or 360 could come out of 07 with a significant lead.

$10 bucks won't do much, you have to hit at least $40 to see a difference in sales IMO, with $20-30 being the sweet spot (putting them on par with DVD/HD formats), problem is that cuts off licensing fees for the manufacturers. The main thing is to shop smart, EB/gamestops "trade 3, get if free" deals are a great way to turn games you don't play into something worthwhile, and game prices drop pretty quickly all things considered.

Wow TC that car comment was beyond weak. You start getting destroyed by the guy so you insult the car in his sig? I wish I could do that in Forza 2 (I'm getting there, right now I'm working on Guinness and London Irish cars).

Pokemons main advantage is its mainly a handheld series, which helps out its easy and simple gameplay and design. You can play it for 2 minutes or 2 hours and get something accomplished. I just bought a PSP and playing MGS:Portable Ops is a pain in the ass without being able to save mid-mission, completely kills the mobility of the game. I think thats the problem with Pokemon on consoles, sure people will buy it because of its name, but sitting down for a couple of hours and playing it on a console is very different from playing it on a gameboy/DS.

Handholds yes because buying a console/PC rarely stops a person from buying a handheld like how buying a PS3/360/Wii/PC will stop someone from buying another console/PC, plus the games are usually so different from consoles/PC that you can't compare the games (at least not favourably for the handhelds). Splitting it up to PC/Mac wars is stupid, because you pretty much can't game on a mac (at least not game andplay anything new) plus the consoles and PC have enough pros and cons to be compared to eachother.

[QUOTE="pundog"]Good post, although I'd give the 360 the edge in games because of how many PC games end up on the 360 and I just like the games more. Also I think you should take into account the added value of DLC that the 360 gets that the other consoles (so far) are lacking in. Bluestorm-Kalas
Good point, altough that can be included in the "much more" of the 360's online. Also, most of the Ps3 ports are coming with alot of the content you have to pay for on the 360.

Problem with them being included with the PS3 is that most of the DLC is for multiplayer or isn't included in the PS3 version. And like you said, the PS3 has some pretty anemic online, especially considering its free. So while DLC for GRAW 2 will make a big difference on the 360, it won't on the PS3. Also for some reason the PS3 is completely lacking the Oblivion content, which should be the model for how to distribute DLC (assuming publishers are going to charge for it). I think if you bought all the Oblivion DLC it would cost you about 80 bucks and you're going to get about 50-60 hours of gameplay (maybe more, I only have SI), not too bad a deal.
