never thought of DC...and a few of the editors thought of it. DC in a modern setting actually would be quite perfect...to much insanity in the world right now to pass up the present, and DC would be a great place to do it. It would be a pretty political game then, instead of the focus being so heavily on drugs (although it will play a part) it will also have to do with doing political jobs (aka assassinations or raiding facilities or whatever) in place of so many drug jobs. DC has plenty of interesting places to see, and it's pretty different from cities that the series has done before. It's also not as dense or tall as NY, so it could be a wider map with more varied landscape of the surrounding areas of DC. That would be a very cool GTA game indeed! Can't wait to see the trailer next week..

i recall not being totally impressed with the beta demo on the Xbox 360. I;ve been following BF3 for a while now, and my jaw drops every time i see a screenshot or a video of it running on a PC. When I booted up the 360 beta, it just didn't strike me as being as gorgeous as I thought it would be. Granted, it looked great. But it didn't have that 'next gen' look that i had considered BF3 to have. Perhaps I've been seeing the 'ultra' settings cranked up to the max. perhaps it was because it was a 3 month old beta build that didn't do the final product justice, and perhaps i just overall had a bad experience with the multiplayer the few rounds i played before deleting it. I will definitely try the full game when it comes out, but I hope the visuals are better than what I saw on the beta. It just wasn't the best looking game i've ever seen, i think crysis 2 might look just as good if not better on 360. Then again, BF3 is going for an even more photo realistic look than Crysis 2 did...I'll have to wait to see gamespot's visual comparison that will definitely come out after the game's released. all in all i know it's not about graphics and, what's apparent on this article, is that it's a gorgeous game any way you play it. If the single player campaign is as good as I hope it to be, then this game will definitely be worth the purchase anyway.

epic. epic epic epic epic epic. i've commented on numerous videos & hands on about how great everything is, but i'm noticing in the dungeon gameplay video one point someone brought up in another video..it seems there is a lack of ability to block with anything other than the shield. if you have a spell in the left hand, it would be great to have some type of gauntlet to block melee attacks with, even if you still get some damage. if you have a sword in the left, it would be great if you could block with your sword, again, even if it's only melee attacks and you still get some damage. because otherwise you always have to equip a shield or you'll get damaged! that's the ONLY flaw i can see in this game. regardless, still getting it. going to be a GOTY, regardless of the incredible lineup of games in 2011.

i don't play computer games, i play console games. when OnLive was first announced i was interested but I am one of those who still likes to have hard copies of games sitting on a shelf. This demoing service sounds like an absolutely incredible edition to GameSpot though, particularly for PC gamers. I wonder though...if i were to buy a wired xbox 360 controller (so it wont go to waste) could i demo games for free via my computer & OnLive but play them as if it were on 360..i.e. demoing 360 games? If so, that controller might be a worthwhile investment. Then I don't have to rent or buy & sell or whatever, i can simply demo through gamespot/onlive and it might as well be on XBL! If that were the case it would be great. Other than that, still cool for PC gamers to be able to demo games, even if you don't end up purchasing said games on OnLive, although I'm also sure OnLive will gain a lot of customers via this.

E3 this year is going to be one of the biggest ones we've seen in a number of years with the huge lineup of incredible games that we already know about coming out in many different popular mainstream series, as well as all of the games we don't already know about, not to mention the playable successor to the Wii, perhaps some more info from Sony on the NGP, and, this is my hope, microsoft & sony discussing their next generation console as well (if they even have anything to share yet, that is.)

very articulate, clear, concise, and very true article. i liked your 4 categories. your focus on more modern, current gen games is great because of it's accessibility to every gamer older and younger, but i'm interested in seeing an analysis by you that deals with well known villains from big name series' from both past generations and current gen (such as the various nintendo series') and whether or not you think the villains in those games are good villains and if they contribute to the games success..also, it would be great to see a comparison on villains from older/classic games to todays villains, and/or if you deem the villains in the long lasting big name series as i had previously mentioned to be good villains, than compare those villains to todays villains and analyze what made them good villains and why the franchises have been so successful...or something to that effect...

All around looks great. I love the game, and during the middle of action, its one of the best looking games ive personally played. however, during no motion, up close, plant life and brick walls and the sort don't look that great, but thats how shooters have always been. from any distance, and during action, the game is beautiful. It's clear here the rank is PC, 360, PS3. The PS3 version suffers from something i see alot in comparisons - lighting. the PS3 games tend to be lacking in the darks area, they don't have good blacks. The PC and 360 have great blacks. Certain textures, and only certain ones, seem to have more detial than the 360, but otherwise the PS3 version is blurrier in general. The PC version by far has the most vibrant colors, is the sharpest, has best textures, and has best lighting. But the 360 is a close follow, and the PS3 is a close third. All around great looking game - i'm scared to see what the PC would look like cranked up to max settings on a suped-up computer!

i think that video games are one of the BEST story telling methods ever. Because they are interactive, you become part of that story, which makes it even better, makes you so much more into it. I can never get into a book like I can a video game with a good story. I think, with modern games and so many games giving you so many choices...usually to be good or bad (think Oblivion, Fable, Fallout 3, etc) that might be the ONLY thing that i could consider holding back story. to an extent though. but in fact It just means that the story becomes that much more personal for each player. You have control over the outcome. That means that its up to the devs to create different outcomes, and I think that makes it so much more interesting. My favorite story of ALL time, including books, TV, movies, and games, is the story of the Ocarina of Time. A video game. I'm shocked they didn't mention zelda in here. Those games have all (since ALTTP) been story-driven. I love story-driven games. It's as if you're part of the book. Gameplay is just as important as story, one shouldn't be more important than the other, but they talk in this feature as though that 'marriage' has never been done before. I think it has. I'll cite OoT again. It is my favorite game of all time because it was the most fun to play and had the best story ever. There you go. My opinion of course.
