they keep saying this is what next gen games will look like, but this game is set for release on ps3 & 360 in addition to PC, so what we are seeing...are we going to get that on ps3/360, or is this like the equivalent to the game being maxed out on a top-tier gaming PC? And the console versions aren't going to look like this? Because between this, Watch Dogs, and Beyond, i think the next generation visually is already happening on current consoles.
holy CRAP that was awesome!AC meets GTA...and WOW what an incredible live city! phenomenal graphics, animations, little details from the first scene with the wind blowing garbage around on the floor to the shooting in the end where a man is talking to the girl that was shot in the car with him, you can hear how scared and upset he is that that person has been shot...it brings a whole new level of realism and consequence to the actions, the citizens arent just some random AI you don't care about. what a great looking new IP, can't wait for it to come out.
for software developers it is sort of a shame as a gamer that some of the biggest won't be represented. For example I didnt know Rockstar was going to be at E3, i have been looking forward to more GTA5 info this week but I guess I won't be getting any. The plus is that the surprises catch us all off guard and in a way make a bigger impact.
I think now the biggest purpose E3 seems to serve is actually for hardware as opposed to software. The big 3, Nintendo, Sony, and Microsoft, all seem to still show up and intend to outshine each other through upcoming software and hardware, including add ons and peripherals. I for one am very excited for all 3 press conferences because with the next gen looming around the corner, who knows what each may have in store.
looks like a pretty cool game. Im happy that he talked about asymmetrical gameplay...all shooters feel the same lately im glad they are taking a different approach. similarly im happy that the game seems to be a mix of suspense and action sequences with shooting...kind of reminds me of the vibe that the James Bond games had last gen (N64, gcube, ps2, xbox).
About the wii U:
im so happy to hear that finally a developer is flat out saying, this is a next generation console and it is more powerful than the xbox360 and ps3. and the fact that he seems to be treading carefully and reminding us that nintendo hasn't really spilled the details yet so he cant, gets me pretty excited for it.
Also, he did the same thing with the Wii U in terms of online...saying that he cant give the details bc Nintendo hasn't yet but that they wouldn't have put the game on the system in the online gameplay wasn't going to be able to be there, so we now can have some confidence in the Nintendo Network!
I've been made a happy camper. Can't wait to E3.
When i do eventually get a Wii U, this seems to be a good game to pick up. I'm sick of all the same FPS genre right now and this looks to be somewhat of a breadth of fresh air.
i want next gen to be similar in balance to this gen. by that i mean ill be purchasing a wii U for the incredible nintendo games, and of course im ecstatic that it will offer power at LEAST comprobable to 360/ps3, if not better. i expect it to be somewhat a better, the way the wii is like a midway point between this gen and the one before it.
then ill be purchasing the next xbox or ps ONLY if it is truly much more powerful than the wii U. if sony and microsoft follow nintendo's model of going cheaper, and with rumors of a microsoft touch screen controller, if the graphics arent a giant leap above wii u than why would i bother to own both?
granted, id love the wii u to be able to be a powerhouse and be a giant leap forward but i think we all know it wont be.
so im with epic on this, i want to see avatar-esque graphics on the next sony/ms consoles. they can definitely do it at this point, epic seems pretty sure of their new engine. i believe in them. so for microsoft or sony to stand out from nintendo now that they are getting a headstart and are finally going HD with proper online functionality, plus no one has first party games like nintendo does, i think they really need to take that quantum leap in horsepower.
yes. yes. and yes. this is everything they are talking about! the in-city parkour looks incredibly fresh and exciting. the frontier parkour looks familiar but is in new ground! the combat looks new and exhilarating with the constant motion that they described...the big battles look great, everything looks so epic i can't wait!
Also, i was really waiting for ubisoft to delve into the mayan and aztec civilzations, as well as the inca and other indigenous ancient civilizations in south america. so much potential for the lore of 'those who came before'. i wasnt going to preorder because i was possibly going to get it on the Wii U, but seeing as how i really want that free mission, and may not get a wii u for a year or two after it's initial release, i may just have to complete the trilogy on my 360.
oh, and one last thing...for pre-alpha footage, that new anvil engine looks damn good. can't wait to see what the polished game looks like.
oh boy. never seen a 1.5 on GS before haha, WOW this does look terrible. Yikes. But honestly, what developer would put out a game that looked like THAT nowadays? It's like, you are willing putting out a lesser product, that is obviously less quality than an alpha build of most modern 3D games.
i kind of hope that this comes to Wii U, seeing as i will own that console and dont own a gaming PC.
I say the Wii U specifically because I do recall an article I think here on GS? about a developer talking about the possibilites of MMOs on Wii U, that the console would be a good fit for the genre.
Loved skyrim, hopefully they use the same engine. if its coming out in just a year they probably will.
