Hmmmm,  I'm actually in Keller, Texas.  It's already available in Southlake, Grapevine, Colleyville, and some parts of Dallas and Fort Worth.   Maybe it's coming to you in the near future.

If you wait a while you won't really have a choice.  1080p sets have really gone down in price recently.  I picked up a 56" Samsung 1080p for $1,699 and that was with shipping and no sales tax.

Quit messing around and get the $10 HDMI cables from monoprice.   Are they cheap? Yes.  Are they excellent quality? Yes.    At AVSforum you will find they are one of the most recommended cables and people there trust home theater setups that cost thousands of dollars to those $10 cables.  So if they are willing to use a $10 cable for a $10,000 setup wouldn't it be good enough for a $600 PS3?

Monoprice cables would be worth it even if they were $50.

Satellite offers a MUCH more robust HD package with higher quality (1080i) channels. If you're not in contract, make the switch. Or better yet, get Verizon's TV service... it's internet based, cheap, and really high tech from what I understand. It combines internet functionality with television... sounds really cool, but I havn't tried it myself (not offered in my area, or I'd get it in a second.)donalbane
I have the Verizon Fios TV service you are talking about and it's phenomenal. They run a direct fiber optic line from the street to your house. There is never a reduction to analog anywhere in the pipeline. My internet connection with them is 15mbps, yes that's fifteen mbps. I get all movie channels, 15mbps internet, and HD-DVR, two digital boxes, and a great selection of HD channels for only about $130 a month. It's really not a bad deal.

[QUOTE="ramey70"]It has nothing to do with "courage" or being afraid to "fight", whatever the hell that means. It's just that we see gaming consoles for what they are. And that is they are merely devices that allow us to play games and spend free time. They demand no more allegiance from us than a toaster oven or an electric toothbrush. They are what they are, and that is highly sophisticated electronics that exist for entertainment. It's truly sad that you think you need to fight for an inanimate object.sonicare

That's fine if you think that way, but then why are you posting in a forum dedicated to system wars? That's truly sad.

Because more often than not this is where the best information can be found for all consoles.

I sometimes wonder if fanboys apply their "logic" to all of their consumer purchases.  Do they only buy one brand of cellphone and trash the owner's of other brands?  Do they only buy one make of a vehicle and flip off owners of other cars on the highway for having something different?   Do they only eat at one restaurant and avoid all others?

Your arguement doesn't make sense.  Gaming is a pastime just like any other hobby.   For instance I also play golf.  However, since I play golf that doesn't mean I need to commit to myself to Ping or Callaway for my equipment choice.  In, fact I may use Ping Irons, Callaway Woods, and a Taylor Made putter.  Each one serves a specific role to round out my total experience and fulfillment as far as the game goes.  Same with gaming.  Having a Wii, 360, and PS3 in my "bag" can really give me an opportunity to be totally fulfilled in all facets of gaming.

I have a 56" 1080p set and I can't tell the difference when I'm feeding a 1080p signal or 1080i signal.  I do notice a major difference in the actual display however (I have an older 57" 1080i set as well).

[QUOTE="ramey70"]Scale? The resoultion of 1080i and 1080p is the same. However one is interlaced and one is progressive. They are not the same in that since and there is a significant difference as far as display goes. As far as signal, eh not so much.Prid3r

other then the way the picture is brought to the screen ( interlace , Progressive ) , everything is the same about the 2 resolution .

Not exactly. They are displayed on the screen entirely differently.
