I don't see how people attach themselves to a piece of plastic with tiny metal parts.  If it doesn't sell well or gets discontinued then just buy the one that didn't.

Scale?  The resoultion of 1080i and 1080p is the same.  However one is interlaced and one is progressive.  They are not the same in that since and there is a significant difference as far as display goes.  As far as signal, eh not so much.

If Bluray sold that well because of the January releases I can only imagine what they will be in the next coming months when Casino Royale, Pirates of the Caribbean and a slew of others come out.

The fact that the PS3 didn't launch with many games helped Blu-Ray out tremendously...

Somewhat I'll agree. Availability of better movies is the key and they get even better for Bluray in the coming months. Having Fox and Disney really commit themselves with decent bluray releases has been the big factor in my opinion.

[QUOTE="sainraja"]PlayStation 3 is not a flop. Writing an article that states so would be a false article, now what good is it to write something false? and how much credibility does that give you? None. Stop being a fanboy.

It wouldn't be "false" per se. It would categorize his article as an op-ed piece though.

That's because HD-DVD came out earlier. Blu-Ray is catching up quickely.

It's funny how cows say HD-DVD is dead when it has still sold more than Blue Ray overall. It's not like the HD-DVD owners have been saying blue ray is dead. Cows need to learn fact from fiction.

This has been a message from an HD-DVD owner.

All indicators lead to Bluray overtaking HD-DVD's overall lead in the next few weeks.

So it will finally match HD-DVD overall sales? That's not as big an accomplishment as the BR camp makes it out to be. I know they'll be threads like "teh hd-dvd is dead" etc. etc. when in fact the war is far from over.

Not only will it match them but it will exceed them. Most of the confidence from the Bluray camp comes from the upcoming release schedule and the outstanding showing Bluray had at CES this year. When you look at the upcoming release slate for the two formats the HD-DVD exclusive titles are underwhelming to say the least.

Writing about the PS3 "flopping" in an article at this time would be like publishing a complete history of the United States in 1799.

[QUOTE="purplemidgets"][QUOTE="fatzombiepigeon"][QUOTE="GloverD"]Scaled 1080p.....fatzombiepigeon
Still 1080p.

Not really.

It says 1080p. So it's 1080p.

That's not exactly true. DVD's can be upscaled to 1080p but they aren't native 1080p, just upscaled. Same with this game. However, the 360 is capable of natively rendering 1080p games.

[QUOTE="mikasa"][QUOTE="ramey70"] Your problem is that you think I'm being "obtuse" or trying to win an arguement. As if I had a dog in this fight. I own both Bluray and HD-DVD movies. I am simply clearing up the often repeated misconception that MPEG-2 automatically equals bad picture quality. At no time did I ever declare MPEG-2 to be "better" than MPEG-4 or VC-1. You can easily look back at my posts to see that. In fact, I even said that I would prefer VC-1 or MPEG-4. But this all started because you assumed the position that anything using MPEG-2 would look bad. I simply countered that it isn't always the case, especially since some of the best looking movies on HD-DVD or Bluray are encoded in MPEG-2.

Just read your first response to me and you'll see you claim it's better and/or equal. But what you did is compared apples to oranges. And you still do. Why buy a dual layer BD Rom just to make the PQ look as good as a VC-1 single layer movie?

Perhaps the movie in question is only available on Bluray? Dual layer BD's aren't even more expensive than single layer BD's either. I could really care less what it's encoded in as long as the picture quality is delivered. By the way, have you considered Gameznflix? They offer HD-DVD and Bluray movies in addition to 360/PS3/PS2/Wii games. They even have 3 games/movies out at a time for $16.99 per month plan.
