[QUOTE="ramey70"]If the Cell was made to play Bluray movies why is it only found in one player (the PS3)?bluebrad1974
Why not go crack open your $800 standalone br player and see if there isn't some form of cell chip inside.Or maybe a new Toshiba hdtv, try that one.

There is no "form" of the Cell chip inside any standalone bluray or HD-DVD player (I've had my Toshiba HD-A1 for a year now). That is the most ludicrous claim I've ever heard. I suppose a mini Cell chip is also in Sony, Dell and HP laptops with Bluray drives and hell maybe there's even a secret Cell chip inside of the HD-DVD add-on for the 360! OMG the conspiracy is huge!

What joy, now everyone on System Wars gets to play pretend lawyer. We should have Casey block off a floor of rooms at the Holiday Inn Express.

I see we already have our Bluebrad thread bashing the cell today. All we need now is a Jedigemini thread about Wii sales and a tango thread about how Sony is going bankrupt and we can call it a day.

[QUOTE="JayPee89"][QUOTE="sonicare"]By then, both bluray and HD DVD will be obsolete and people will be using digital downloads directly to their TV or computer.TekkenMaster606

No.

thanks for the great argument. But that is the future. It's already in motion and most people know about. The limiting factor is how soon and how to boost bandwidth to accommodate it. But it's the future.

It will be at least 10 years, probably more before bandwidth outside of the largest 30 metro areas in the United States is able to accommodate high definition movies and next generation games.

Digital downloads are FAR in the future. Right now DVD needs a replacement.

Exactly. I love the "digital distribution" folk. Relying on digital distribution as your sole means of data is a logistical nightmare in a country with the landmass of the United States.

Blu-ray is Sony so I don't think so. Perhaps a new version of HD-DVD?

If you actually thought about it, you'd know it would be a smart move, licensing Blu-Ray to Microsoft, would mean they make money off of every console sold, business is business, people don't mix in silly rivalries.

Exactly. Think about all those Sony laptops sold with Windows loaded on them.

Why would it matter if it's Sony? Microsoft and Sony don't hate each other and work together on many business ventures. In fact, Microsoft has said before they would consider a Bluray add-on for the 360 if consumers wanted it.

From a quality standpoint the PS3 is excellent and has had very few problems reported hardware wise. Sony's TV's are still regarded as some of the best availalable, especially their Bravia line of LCD's. I'm not sure why you felt compelled to make this point on a 9 month old thread however.
