both formats are doomed since niether really offers anything to your average consumer DVD doesn't already have, and digital disribution won't bring.

That being said most of the reports on blu-ray winning are just the other side of this. Their report that Blockbuster, and target are only selling blu-ray dvds and players has been rebunked. Most of their sales numbers aren't actually sales because almost anybody that gets a blu-ray player get's a rebate form for 5 or more discs. Right now niether format is doing diddly squat and the sales of both prove it. That's why they always tout percentages and increases instead of systems sold.

A majority of people are pretty dumb, and will listen to anything that's in print as the way it is. The truth is blu-ray has a slight lead only due to the ps3, and the fact you get 5+ discs. Even sony themselves has admited blu-ray will only be around for 5 or so years until it's replaced by digital distribution.

Sony has never admitted that. Furthe, a few months ago HD-DVD was also giving away free discs with the purchase of a player as well.

Giving away discs dosn't mean anything from anyside. These sorts of promos happens with all sorts of things. It's normal.

Exactly.

Fact is LTD date both formats have similar software sales (1.4-1.5m ish). That bods far more better as HD-DVD has what half a million units on the market, vs blu-ray 5 million?

You also forget that HD-DVD had a 7 month head start on Bluray and you leave that out of your analysis.

HD DVD software sales experienced a 20 percent increase in growth.

Blu-ray software sales were down 5 percent.

bu but the PS3....

They aren't counting PS3 games as Blu-ray software:cry:

boychat

You need to take a step back and analyze what they said. For example if Bluray software sold 500,000 units in Q1 and only 475,000 in Q2 it would be a 5% drop. Yet, if HD-DVD sold 100,000 units in Q1 and then 120,000 units in Q2 it would be a 20% increase in growth yet still significantly smaller than sales of Bluray software. Without knowing the actual numbers of units sold you have no idea how to interpret there numbers in this press release.

[QUOTE="Smoke_ManMuscle"]Honestly, there's NOTHING about RE5 that couldn't be done on the Wii with a graphical downgrade. Seriously, it looks exactly like RE4 with prettier graphics and Chris on 'roids.Smoke_ManMuscle

:lol::lol::lol::lol:

Oh man....thanks for the laugh.

Prove me wrong.

Because graphical ability isn't the only advantage the PS3 and 360 have over the Wii.

This isn't even up for debate considering the PS3's is a Blu-ray drive.

As long as each version of a multiplat game takes full advantage of its respective system's hardware then I'm all for it. I don't like it when sacrifices are made to make the game play on all systems. I don't see why anyone who loves a particular game would't want it to be multiplat if the above conditions are met. If you truly think a game is great you'd want as many people as possible to share the experience and enjoy it as well.
