Is it really a major difference in model if all they are doing is changing the size of the hard drive (which is easy even for the onwer of the system to do)?

You have a 360 and no HDTV? I don't understand why anyone would do that. Anyways go and get a HDTV. Zerostatic0

Why? The 360 and PS3 both look great in 480i and last I checked the game inside the machine still plays.

Worth is determined by the individual. The Wii may be worth as much as $500 to some and as little as $50 to someone else.

Nintendo is smart, they found a way to topple MS and Sony without extensive R & D costs this gen, imagine the outcome if they used their smarts and poured some money into the next iteration of the Wii?

;)

Why would they do that if they've proven they can be more successful than Microsoft and Sony by spending less? Besides, Nintendo could never go toe to toe with Microsoft in a spending war and they know they don't have to.

Nintendo's success rides on the coattails of their consoles and portables. They will never sell a console at a loss, but now they have the option to pour money into their consoles R&D to ensure its success.

Again, why would they do that when they have shown they don't have to? Take baseball for example. Last year the Detroit Tigers won the World Series and had a payroll of $82.32 Million. The New York Yankees had a payroll of $198 Million. Why incentive would the Tigers have to spend as much as the Yankees?

Do you work for Nintendo? Why do you care so much about a faceless corporation that cares nothing about you? I have a Wii, and I enjoy it. However, I could care less how much money they make or don't make. Nintendo is no different than the airline I choose to fly, the company that makes my car, or the company that makes my preffered soft drink. They are just a faceless corporation like all the rest.

if Nintendo starts pouring money into its research and development.

Think about it by next gen Nintendo will have great relations with third parties, the Wiimote technology will really hit its stride in its second generation and become even better, Nintendo will likely have radically new innovative ideas to implement in the console, and amazing HD graphics will be much cheaper to produce, and Nintendo will have already been online for a whole generation.

Virtual Reality here we come.

Ya, Nintendo and virtual reality would be a great combination. Wait, they've already tried and it sucked so bad it caused epileptic seisures.

[QUOTE="norfair_dweller"]Nintendo 64. The jump to 3-D was massive and changed gaming forever.Eponique

The N64 wasn't the first console to implement 3-D.

It was the one to do it the best.

He wasn't noting which one did it best, he simply noted the "jump to 3-D" which would imply that the N64 was the console which made that jump possible.
