sony came closer than anyone, i think... with "100 million ps2" against 20 million xbox is pretty uneven... even so, they maintained the level of arrogance that always accompanies such position, mocking MS' xbox live vision, controller, hdd, and games...

now? sony is hurting trying to catch up to MS in those areas..... if sony was a monopoly, we'd still be playing the PS1...

sony was given every opportunity to "try" this generation, but chose to turn their backs on their gamers in favor of movie watchers...

leave the windows arguments out of this or i will bring a TON of sony misbehaving's to your attention...

this is about the ps3. let's leave it here...;)

You don't have to tell me about Sony's problems as I'm well aware of them.  Sony is a corporation and therefore I owe zero allegiance or loyalty to them.  In fact, I was using Sony's problems and arrogance regarding the PS3 as evidence of why one company with too much market influence is a bad thing.  Sony and Microsoft are as interchangeable to me as KitchenAid and Whirlpool.

I would like to see MS fail. Western companies have no place in video games.DaysAirlines

That's a rather bigoted and close minded viewpoint.

[QUOTE="SolidSnake35"][QUOTE="JiveT"]Sounds like Sony might drop the PS line up because its bleeding money. Good riddance.Ontain

You actually want gaming companies to fail? Wow...

Only Sony and Nintendo.

How does a corporation, and 1,000's of people losing their jobs, enhance your gaming experience?

the only way i could see is because then all games would be released on the 360. of course a monopoly wouldn't be a good thing either.

anyway it's sad that they always layoff hundreds of thousands of employees that don't even make what a couple of top ppl make.

When I worked for AMR (American Airlines) we would routinely run statistical models showing exactly how many people would need to be laid off for a variety of situations.   Or worst scenario included ther furlough or ourtright termination of 25,000 employees.   Of course, it meant continued employment for the other 63,000.

it frees up developers to make games for the better console...:)

Then what about competition driven motives for the maker of the "better console" to continue providing a better product?

Please tell me there are other games that run in 1080p on the PS3, because if the 360 has more 1080p games than the "true HD console" I might die laughing.

What 1080p games does the 360 has?

I know for sure Lost Planet and Virtua Tennis, I think there might be one or two more. I'm not trying to be fanboyish or anything, its just I couldn't think of a single PS3 title that runs in 1080p, which is pretty funny considering how Sony hyped it as the only true HD console.

Lost Planet is upscaled 1080p, it is not natively rendered at that resolution.

I have no idea what that means, but I do know Lost Planet running in 1080p however it does it is damn pretty.

It means that images are scaled from 720p to 1080p by the 360's scaling chip. The PS3 renders 1080p images and displays them at that resoultion. There is no post render scaling done by the PS3.

Yeah but how much of a difference does that make?

You're basically taking a  1 million pixel image (720p) and in effect stretching it to 2 million pixels (1080p).  It can look really pretty but never the same as a true natively rendered 2 million pixel 1080p image.

NBA 2k7, NBA 07, Virtua Tennis3, Marvel Ultimate Alliance, Ridge Racer 7 are other games that run natively in 1080p for the PS3.  I think there may be a few more.
