@killerious:

Monster Hunter Generations sold over 4 million copies. Remember that's not including the original Monster Hunter X, that's 4 million in just western territories and only 3DS, that's more than the most recent Resident Evil or Dead Rising sales (maybe even combined).

Capcom would have to be crazy to not localise XX for 3DS and Switch. We will definitely see a localisation, Monster Hunter is too popular now in the west not to.

@Thanatos2k:

XX Switch Version IS A PORT OF XX!!! NOT X. NOT GENERATIONS. XX 3DS ALREADY EXISTS FOR GOD'S SAKE.

How is it so hard for you to grasp this simple fact.

@Thanatos2k:

Expanded versions of software are not ports when on the same system.

https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Porting

"In  software engineering, porting is the process of adapting software so that an executable program can be created for a computing environment that is different from the one for which it was originally designed "

XX on Switch will be a port of XX on 3DS.

Not generations. Not X. XX already exists on 3DS. X already exisits on 3DS. XX is an expanded version of X. Not a port.

XX and X/Generations are 2 seperate games, both released on the same platform 3DS. None of these are ports as you said.

Look you were wrong, and now you're changing your argument half way through, it happens, but don't stop using your brain. X and XX are 2 seperate games regardless of whether it suits your argument or not. Seperate release dates, seperate prices, seperate store pages, deal with it.

@Thanatos2k:

I have read the article but unlike you I base my views on years and years of experience with the Monster Hunter Series and also hundreds of hours with X, Generations and XX.

Whatever the article said Monster Hunter XX is NOT a port of Generations.

A. Monster Hunter X is the original, Generations is a localisation that came AFTER X apart from being in English it is the exact same game.

B. Monster Hunter XX is a sequel/expanded version of X NOT a port of generations being as..

C. Monster Hunter X, XX and Generations are all 3DS games, not ports from any other console.

Monster Hunter, Toukiden, Soul Sacrifice, Ragnarok odyssey and more all release a base game followed by a sequel/expanded game about a year later. It does not make them ports of anything.

In Japan Monster Hunter XX on Switch would be a port of Monster Hunter XX on 3DS.

It has nothing to do with Generations.

In the west there is NO Monster Hunter XX.

If XX was released on Switch LOCALISED it would be a NEW GAME seeing as there is no way to play XX, in English on any western machine.

@Thanatos2k:

ROFL. Wrong.

Monster Hunter Generations is a LOCALISATION of Monster Hunter X.

Monster Hunter X is a japanese 3DS game LOCALISED TO Monster Hunter Generations on 3DS for the west.

Neither MHX nor MHG are PORTS of anything, they are ONLY available on 3DS.

Monster Hunter XX is a SEQUEL to Monster Hunter X.

Monster Hunter XX is ONLY available in Japan.

Monster Hunter XX is technically the SEQUEL to Monster Hunter Generations, NOT a port of, and as yet has no western release at all.

Why bother even commenting on a gaming series you have no comprehension of.

Go to the Monster Hunter forums on GFAQ and tell them Monster Hunter XX is a port of Monster Hunter Generations and see the reaction you get there because you sir have no idea what you are talking about.

@Thanatos2k:

Discussions of an article can pertain to any part of said article and I quote:

"Historically, however, Monster Hunter games  are  localized and made available in other territories, they just take a little extra time to come out."

Monster Hunter XX has not been localised. There is no English version available on either Switch nor 3DS outside of a rather decent fan translation for cfw.

At least read an article in it's entirety before discussing it's contents.

A localisation would be more technically accurate if you're that bothered with semantics.

Japan (unsurprisingly) has really gotten the best view of Switch success, with this announcement and Dragon Quest heroes 1+2 as well as all the western line up, coupled with the Japanese love of handhelds it's small wonder the Switch is taking over.

The launch window has been alot kinder to our oriental cousins, here's hoping we eventually get the love over here too.

@Kiaininja:

DLC typically adds 2-8 hours content.

An expansion typically adds 10-15 hours of content.

In this instance single player is doubled in size with the addition of high rank, online is 1/3 increased with G rank and Deviant is doubled with G rank levels. Not to mention all the "Free DLC" that will also accompany the release.

All told you are looking at least 50 hours of new content, for the majority of Monster Hunter players more like 150 hours.

When a new game is released with over double the amount of content of the original it is most definitely considered a new game.

You quite obviously have never really played a Monster Hunter title and know nothing about what these "Ultimate" or "G" releases actually are. It's half understandable as normally we only receive the "G" games in the west but still you should probably do some research before trying to defend blatant trolls.
