iirc, the portrayal of these issues has been discussed and analyzed a lot in the recent past, and I believe at the game's release Levine hinted at them intentionally doing it this way to avoid being "too close to home" type of feel. Get the point across, but don't be too controversial. In fact, I think some of his dev team members found some of his original ideas too offensive, so he changed up some writing or scenes.
Remember, this was a 2013 release w/ years of development prior. Social issues existed, but weren't quite at the forefront of American society's mind. So making it more caricature-like fit the time the game was made.
Besides, I like to ask - would you rather them NOT include any sort of social commentary? At least they did. Criticism you do not like b/c of its style is still criticism. It's almost akin to ppl not understanding or liking campy satire to the point they think it's pointless. But it's not. I mean, we're talking about it now, aren't we?
@probable: k. still pretty sure the average person/gamer is more familiar w/ SF and MK than Tekken. Or you're misunderstanding what my point was? But probably not since Tekken 7 isn't even the highest selling FG. So, not sure where you pull that out from. So...k.
Possibly the biggest FG ever to be released? As huge and mainstream-y as DBFZ was, this is what has the chance to truly put FG's into the mainstream, particularly if Modern v Modern becomes a thing.
Kind of torn. The first one was so divisive and polarizing...not just to the industry but to me myself lol. Some parts I'd be like "wow, this game is amazing" and other times I'd be like "man, this game is bleh".
I hope the combat is refined to be more sharp, or at least have some controller-friendly options like aim assist (I forget if the first game did, but I'm pretty sure I remember thinking it didn't, even tho MGS5 has it).
The world is very interesting and Kojima's storytelling is almost always top-notch. So I'm definitely interested. Coincidentally, I am currently playing MGS5, so I'm sorta having a Kojima gameplay warm up lol.
Got 2 wrong (grapes b/c I didn't do that quest and a 50/50 guess on Rennala's egg rune). Guessed correctly on Radahn's gravity powers (but was well-educated, given his abilities).
Amazing lore and story. I felt this was definitely the most easy to follow between the DS games and Sekiro.
@Barighm: Agreed. It's neither an MV (tho does have elements) nor a soulslike (has 0 elements...). I can tolerate it being called a MV, but a soulslike? Makes me smh every time.
