So, one important thing to remember is how Japanese law works. If a foreign Co buys 10% of a JP Co's stocks, the JP gov't can investigate the foreign Co, intervene, and deny the acquisition. (link below)

Anyway, just food for thought. I don't think it'll be that easy for MS to just buy Sega or Capcom. It'll likely be Sony (or Nintendo?) buying any JP company.

@smackybumbum: Pretty sure JP law prevents them, anyway. But I think they can buy IP's.

edit: Okay, the law is if a foreign Co buys more than 10% of a JP Co's stocks, the JP gov't can investigate the foreign Co and possibly deny the acquisition.

@YukoAsho: plus I'm 99% sure foreign companies cannot buy Japanese companies, per Japanese law.

However, they CAN buy the IP's, afaik.

@gotrekfabian: Poor performance of BL3? It was record-setting in the series... Lemme guess, you just read the Epic exclusive hate and assumed something.

@hawx: honest question, so what makes this NFT model more or less appealing than just true DRM-free games, like GOG offers? Besides the NFT games being free (right?).

@samueldlx: So it sounds just a little bit like the current CS:GO skins model? I really don't know, I don't play CS:GO, but I know it has a big secondhand market for skins (or at least used to).

But for a specific example of NFT's, you can play a competitive game online, earn some token for a gun, be the only owner of that gun in the entire world, and then are able to sell it or rent it out to other players? Is that sort of the idea for where this would be going? I assume it could apply to single-player games somehow, also. Earn some legendary item, beat the game, then sell the item to someone else?

@chizzle: And you honestly think that's a better model than the current f2p model? Will the unlockables those data tokens are used for be like p2w items - give players an advantage?

@chizzle: Can you explain this progress mechanic truly works? Honest question. I play 5% of the game, but earn a block that unlocks another 5 of the game%? And the hope is the game lasts forever?

@hawx: What exactly do we "earn" in this new format? And how is experience and enjoyment not already something we earn in "traditional" games?
