@Joefatty2x4: I honestly hated the original spiderman movies because I thought they were way to campy...it also haven't watched the since pre-marvel movie universe, I actually believe it was right before spiderman 3 released, so my opinion could differ now. Winter Soldier was definitely the most balanced marvel movie yet. I thought it had a perfect blend of seriousness and comedy. I did love Guardian's however just because I had no expectations going in and thought it was just a overall fun movie with likeable characters.

I havent seen this movie yet but going into this movie Im using Man of Steel and even Watchmen as a basis. If you enjoyed those movies then you'll probably like this movie as well. If you thought man of steel was too dark then you'll probably feel the same towards this movie.

My only issue is when people make the assumption that the negative responses are strictly because the movie isn't as light hearted as the marvel movies OR that because this movie is darker it has to be good.

@Karmazyn: if you are just interested in numbers just check metacritic and/or rotten tomatoes. You'll get a numerical consensus of critic reviews.

Spoiler....its not positive at the moment.

@Chernnunos: you do know by clicking on the article and then commenting you are giving them more reason to keep publishing these articles right? The more clicks and comments the article recives the better it is for gamespot.

@Pierce_Sparrow: I'm still going to see the film and the reviews haven't deterred my excitement, mainly because the complaints fall in line with what i was expecting (anyone who away man of steel and Watchmen should have an idea what to expect). Honestly i would have been more surprised if this movie received universal praise.

The problem with the DC movies, thus far, is that they are going in the complete opposite direction of the Marvel movies, to a fault. Where as some have complained that the Marvel movies are too kid friendly DC decided "let's make our movies dark and adult oriented." That would be all fine and good except it seems like they went too far I that direction and then expected that alone to be enough for a good movie. It takes more than a certain type of tone and mood to make a good movie.

@videodrome463: well that and the overall tone and mood of the movie. Most reviews have a similar complaint of the movie being overly grim dark. There are definitely people that will be into that but it seems like the consensus is that the movie could have used a little bit more heart to hit.

@turtlethetaffer: for these DC movies so far, man of steel and now batman v superman, I don't think much outside knowledge is needed. These movies already differ quite a bit from the comics. Sure the essential elements are there (batman is Bruce Wayne and became batman because his parents died, Superman is from another planet and is seemingly all powerful) but you can go into these movies with little knowledge prior. Having an interest in superheroes is probably essential but that could be said for many movies. You wouldn't see the new star wars without having some familiarity and interest in the past movies.

My only complaint, as a comic book fan, would be that they space the moves out a little more. DC and the Xmen films at least have a year or two in between but the Marvel movies are cranked other year after year. It causes them to all feel similar and stale to a point. It is hard to really appreciate each movie when there is a new one coming out months later.

@lnception: that alone shouldn't and doesn't make a movie good. Movies are more than just seeing cool things. If that were the case Michael Bay would be genius.

I really hate this excuse of "people need to stop expecting to see marvel movies". Why would anyone go in expecting a marvel movie when Snyder's previous superhero movies, Watchmen and MoS, were the complete opposite of Marvel movies? The Dark Knight movies also weren't marvel films and those were universally well received. Just because a movie is "dark" and geared more towards adults doesn't make it good.

I haven't seen this movie but I know a big complaint about MoS was that is was nearly completely void of any emotion other than being somber. That's alright for Batman but Superman is suppose to be a bit more uplifting.

Either way I'm personally still excited to see the movie, I might not love it but I know, at worst, there will be some moments I enjoy. But I'm not going to make the mistake that it has to be good just because of the scope of the movie and the fact that it is "dark and adult-oriented".

@ramtracker42: I'm hoping DOOM lives up to the hype which I am basing off of Wolfensteins The New Order's success (in terms of quality not sales).

@huyi12: is it true that they are adding side missions? I've been trying to avoid too much information on this game so it is all fresh once I play.

I'm hoping that openness is just a way to add more variety and ways to approach different parts of the game. The addition of the grapple hook alone openness the game up away bit more. I'm currently playing through the collection for the first time, about 1/3 through part 3, and one of my complaints is that most encounters are the same routine. You either enter an area with a bunch of enemies or a bunch of enemies enter the area you are in and you are forced to shoot your way through them. At least 3 added more stealth approaches.
