Of course they did the right thing.

Stupid bastards using weapons that were totally illegal in our country. Assault weapons and military grade weaponry is absolutely illegal for civilian usage down here. Those morons should have been put away for longer.

As for the legallity of using 'terrorism' to get warrants for the raids is in my eyes, absolutely fine. The police were informed of dangerous individuals running around with machine guns and blocking travellers paths on public acess roads, what the F*** did the public expect them to do? The definition of 'terrorism' is one of using the tactics of warfare whilst not actually being at war, hence the actions being illegal under UN and international law. The Tuhoe believe that they are an independant state because they did not sign the Treaty of Waitangi, hence they are allowed to do whatever they feel like on their land. WRONG. They arent recognised by a single government in the world and hence the actions of the partisans were ILLEGAL and were TERRORIST in nature. They may not have actually attacked anyone yet but the potential for it was there.

The arrogance of the people down there is overwhelming. They expect the whole country to bow to a group of about 2000 individuals. WRONG. We provided and built the infrastructure in their local area, we give them power, technology, law and order. They still, in this day and age insist that they are a sovereign state.

I do not believe in the ideals of the 'global war on terror', but frankly the attitude of my countrymen towards BLATANT partisan aggression is disgusting and pathetic. People believe the most obvious lies that the media spew to provide free rhetoric for a group of uneducated gun-weilding nobodies who are being portrayed as the victems of some monstrous oppression.

Disgusting. I hate to be a redneck but love it or leave. That land is no longer simply THEIRS. Europeans have been here for 200 years now, and its time to wake up and smell the fact that this country is no longer a bunch of waring independant tribes but a unified state where all men of any backround and race have true equal opportunity.

You sir, are a king among men. That's exactly how I feel. I drove down Queen Street while one of the marches was on and an enormous Maori man was holding a sign reading; "TOURIST NOT TERRORIST". I almost crashed the car laughing - not only does that have no relevance besides being a rhyming catchphrase, the Tuhoe claim the land is theirs, so how are they tourists?

Hah, this country is really pathetic sometime. It's only a matter of time before there's a civil war and NZ is purged of the mass unthinking.

I haven't spent a great deal of time in any country that isn't like that, unfortunately.

I was in the state capital of Washington State, USA and they were protesting the use of the port for transporting military equipment. They blocked the freeway with a human chain... and wouldn't let any semi-trucks through until they checked the cargo. Needless to say that didn't win them any fans, no matter what there opinion was (late to work, thank you, and hippies in the road isn't an excuse apparently). The cops came to clear the roads and of course, none of them dispersed as commanded. The cops pepper sprayed em, and you can imagine when a few hundred self righteous hippies realise they're actually on planet earth where there are consequences for everything you do. The local newspaper, which I had a friend mail me, had a wonderful article with such bitting insight as, "One woman who was pepper sprayed by police was treated by EMTs. She was crying and screaming in pain." Wuh wuh. Sounds to me like we should be glad that our tax dollars are buying pepper spraythat works.

I guess it doesn't relate much to what yours was about, but it is an example of police doing their job and being remarkably restrained and still getting a bunch of hate. One of the protestors was quoted as saying, "If this isn't fascism, I don't know what is." That goofball wants fascism? Try Hungary under Ferenc Gyurscany. Protestors really have something to be angry about there. Not being allowed to block the interstate is a great deal different from not being allowed to demonstrate at all. The cops didn't ride horses into them either, funnily enough. They got pepper sprayed and pushed out of the way to clear the road. Poor babies. Wasn't the point to get that attention?

As you can guess, I support the NZ police. They did their jobs. Is NZ a place where cops have to walk around in full riot gear? I've been to a couple places where police usually do, because attacks on cops is fairly common. Whats the general opinion on police? I can guess from the article, but do peoplejustdislike them, or seriously despise them?

I haven't had any problems with Vista at all. In fact, I've had less problems with it than I had with XP. The problem with Vista was the fact that everyone seemed to get Nvidia cards and their drivers didn't support older games, I think. They seem to be fine now. The issue was way overblown, and it isn't even relevant anymore.

My dad uses Linux, but he says it takes a bit of work to get games to run on it and I haven't seen him put any on. When I say Linux, I'm reffering to all of the different versions he's tried. There're quite a few.

In physical labour? No. If I'm hauling her crap into her new house she better be hauling crap, too. I'm not gonna say that she should carry more than she can. I wouldn't expect a smaller guy to do more than he could, but I would expect him to do what he could. Same for women.

In sports? There are obvious biological differences. Ignoring them is a good way to get a bunch of people flattened.

For an argument like yours it's probably best to be very clear if you're gonna make claims like that.

How is that going to give you true happiness. I'm actually curious now. An explanation is in order, if you please.

well revently ive decided that very little of what people (myself until recently) worry about actually matters everyone. just watching the news is enough to make anyone depressed seriously how is a woman getting attacked by a dog newsworthy? why do i hear about the star highschool student that died in a car accident but not all of the thousands of ppl that die in car crashes? a woman was raped in Iraq. yes these are all horrible things, but in what way do they affect me? they don't. i choose to not let them bother me because there are people in the world whose job it is to worry about them. i dont want to take away someones job now do i? im a little facetious but anyway. if you can control your emotions you think more logically and will make better decisions regret fewer things etc. need more clarification/ examples?

Mmkay, I see where you're at. I didn't mean to sound like I was trying to bash you at first, if I did.

I have a friend who thinks like you. Indifference to those that are not involved in your life is what you're describing, and it can make things a lot easier emotionally.

I'm not saying that I agree that that will bring happiness though. I'm a caring person and I'm only happy when I can care for and about others. To feel nothing would be hell for me. Good for you if you can be happy that way though.

Apathy is a psychological term for a state of indifference -- where an individual is unresponsive or "indifferent" to aspects of emotional, social, or physical life

From wikipedia

an absence of emotion or enthusiasm

From princeton

Apathy is not controlling your emotions. Your emotions do not exist or fluctuate. You cannot be happy, but you cannot be sad. If you never have the lows you can never have the highs and you will never know what it is to be happy. Every day will be the same for you because nothing will inspirea reaction in youand you might as well be dead.

My friend weighed 210 in the 9th grade. He stopped drinking soda and he's down to 165 and he's nineteen now. He drank a lot of soda.
