WTF! I'm confused what this has to do w/ the saddest big men. lolThere was a time that the NBA once tried to hand over the Jordan mantel over to Grant Hill, but that didn't work. He was marketed as a good guy, with near great all around skills. He wasn't the defender that Pippen was, however he proved to be Pippens Superior in scoring, Pippens equal in ball handling, passing, and rebounding. He only had two glaring weakness at that time, that just couldn't be over looked. The 1st noticeable weakness, was that he lacked a consistent jump shot. It wasn't as bad as the way Jayson Kidds use to be, but it was still evident that who ever guarded Grant Hill, could sag off of him, and just invite him to shoot the open jumper, because he showed limitation. The 2nd noticeable weakness was, he just wasn't aggressive enough, and lacked a complete killer instinct, especially during 4th quarter situations. When the Pistons looked for him to be the go to guy, he seemed more comfortable being the set up passer, instead of the finisher/closer like the way Jordan was. I remember a comment that Doug Collins once made, when he use to coach the Pistons. He said that he wanted Grant Hill to be less like Scottie Pippen, and more like Mike, I was LOL when I heard him say that. Jerry Stackhouse even made a comment during that time. He said, that Grant Hill was the best player in the league, for the 1st 3 quarters only. Another comment that I thought was hilarious. Fast forward years later, the league tried once again to hand over the Jordan mantel to Vince Carter, but he proved during the Knicks Raptors playoff series, that he didn't adjust well to physical contact. I remember there was this one play that to this day I think affected Vince Carters out look on the game. Vince Carter made an attempt to attack the basket, and Latrell Sprewell gave Vince Carter a hard foul, that should have been called a flagrant 2. Vince Carter fell hard to the ground, and no call was made. Doug Collins was one of the commentators during the game, and he said that the difference between Vince Carter and Jordan, was that on the next couple of possessions, Jordan would have attacked the basket and forced the defender to make contact. Charles Oakley was incensed, that on the next couple of possessions instead of attacking the basket. Vince Carter chose to take jump shots, as a way to avoid the contact. Players around the league started to take notice that the way to slow Vince Carter down was simple, just use hard contact. Until this day, Vince Carters game, has never been the same.

Tim Legler is legit. I think you are getting the wrong idea w/ me. It's like you think that anybody who favors Kobe is "biased" and that's not the case. In fact i couldn't care less about who wins MVP cause it, in no way, improves my life. I would value Legler, or any other former players opinion over someone like Bucher's for 2 reasons. 1 - he played the game so he has a better understanding and first hand experience and knowledge of what he's talking about. 2 - Also he has no affiliation or favortism towards a specific conference, team, or player. Ric Bucher has ridiculous west coast bias, Bob Ryan has ridiculous north east bias (it's been reported that he went on record and said he can make a valid argument that Bobby Hull was greater than Wayne Gretzky), and there are countless others. When you are paid to cover specific teams and cover specific areas it's only natural you get an attachment to those teams and their players. It just loses all crdibility to me. But hey thats just my opinion Oh yeah and paul did his thing. I was actually at the game tonight. Rasual BUtler was even more impressive to me. You know what you'll get w/ paul, but Butler was going off. I was shocked when i got home and saw he was only 6-13 from 3 point range (which is damn near 50% so it's still great), because it seemed like he made every shot he put up"MJ would not let his team blow a 25 point lead..."
Fiqured you'd be stopping by sixringz, but its all good ;) Here's what I'm saying. The veteran, battle tested Bulls teams led by MJ would not have lost that game. But I'll bet the house that if MJwas able to leadasoft, young, inexperienced team without its young promising center to the finals, those Bulls would have gotten beat down as the Lakers did by a tough, defensive, 3 star team on a mission.
BTW, another no doubt "biased" analyst (Tim Legler) just pronounced Kobe the best player and sighted his ability to get off when he wants...just his opinion though;)
Chris Paul, baby!

i didn't feel like reading 100 pages to find the answer, so if someone asked already i apologize, but is this poll like a "final word, whatever the results are goes" or is this just for fun?
"Wade, Lebron, MJ or whoever given those circumstances would have done no better""Thats one way to spin it." Spin what? I gave my opinion and analysis. To clarify, I think if Phil Jackson went to Kobe and said "forget the triangle, we need you to go off" I think kobe can still do it.
"All you have to do is look at Monday where Kobe played 39 minutes and shot 11 for 29 from the field while the Lakers got spanked by the Blazers."You can tell very little from 1 game.
"In the biggest game of the Lakers season last year in the last game of the Finals the Lakers got embarrassed and Kobe played terrible." The Lakers played against the best team defense in years, achored by the defensive player of the year, geared to stop the Lakers best player. Also Kobe led a young, inexperienced, softteam to the finals against against a tough, defensive minded team led by not 1, not 2 but 3 hungry, veteran, all-star players who hadn't won a ring and were geeked up to finally get it done and not be labeled great players who never won the big one. That along with being at home is why the Lakers lost so badly against Boston, not because of some failure of Kobe. Kobe should have been given big time credit for getting them that far.Wade, Lebron, MJ or whoever given those circumstances would have done no better.
"I think Kobe is a player who when he is hot can occasionally take over a game. But I also think Wade and even LeBron sometimes can do that too" What an understatement for all 3.When any of them are "hot" most likely the game will be taken over.

I have to jump in on this one. Ican't speak for wade or lebron, nor all the circumstances you mentioned, but i'd be willing to bet the house the MJ wouldn't have let his team blow a 25 point lead (or however much it was) in game 4. That CAN'T HAPPEN in the NBA finals.
There really needs to be an updated and agreed upon list of AAAE, AAE, etc. There was one but i don't know what happened. Because w/out it a thread like this will go on for weeks w/ no conclusion
[QUOTE="sixringz1"][QUOTE="lawlessx"]are..are cows really going to use this baseball game as ownage?lawlessxno there using a 9.0 as ownage when the game is not an exclusive to the ps3? i don't know and i don't care, but their argument has nothing to do w/ the game genre it has to do with the 9.0 score
are..are cows really going to use this baseball game as ownage?lawlessxno there using a 9.0 as ownage
that would never work because you'd have lemmings saying it's the same game minus the graphics, even if it's not, just so it wouldn't be considered AAAE. There would be no fair objectivitySomething that would help is for some people to actually play both games and then post here if they are the same or not. It's common knowledge that the EA Sports games are different on PS2/PC and 360/PS3, maybe this could be the same. We should wait.

It's not worth much in my book. Other than Bill Plashcie (sp) i don't know if there is another writer for ESPN that is more west coast bias than ric bucher. This guy doesn't think there is basketball outside the state of California. I got no problem with another writer saying that, but not him. That's like Bob Ryan saying Kevin Garnett should have been MVP last yr. Sure he had a legit case, but a writer from Massachusets won't have the same objectivity as others. But hey, it's all a matter of opinion anyway so whatever worksFor what it's worth Rick Bucher on ESPN today said he would still give the MVP to Kobe 1st, Lebron 2nd, T. Duncan 3rd and Wade 4th. He gave Wade credit for playing great this season but said he has not played as well against the better teams and used the recent loss to Cleveland as an example. He said he would give the MVP to Kobe because his team has one of the best records and Kobe has led the Lakers to victories over other elite teams (Cleveland, Boston...) Just his opinion.

You know I was wondering the same exact thing when I came across that article : (that's the good read)
http://rivals.yahoo.com/ncaa/basketball/blog/the_dagger/post/Why-fans-hate-Tyler-Hansbrough-A-treatise-in-on?urn=ncaab,146732
It reminds me of Tim Duncan in the NBA. Extremely talented, Efficient, (over?) loved by the experts/media, boring, works hard, etc.
I'm a Heels fan and I agree he ain't very exciting to watch, but the dude's very good.
He might not be a superstar in the NBA, but I think he'll be a good bench/role player anyways.
Edit : Oh you might find some interesting comments by Yahoo Users, regarding Hansbrough's favoritism with refs. And one good comment stating that "Even if I don't like to watch Hansbrough (or anything with Dick Vitale), I DO want my kids to emulate him, effort and determination" Another stating how Hansbrough NEVER complains, play rough every single play and such.
It was the same thing with Reddick, although Reddick had a little swagger to him when he made 3-4 in a row. Although Reddick was hated cause he went to Duke first and foremost and Duke is the Yankees of college bball, you either love em or hate em, with a lot more hate out there. But for Hansbrough it's obvious in my opinion, it's cause he's an unathletic white guy who still manages to get the job done. He plays hard, does everything by the book, and never seeks the spotlight. The media loves those things. They look at him as an overachiever who gets by on guts over talent, which is probably right. But the main reason is that he plays for UNC. An athletic all black team (in terms of the people who play, excluding frasor who i still don't understand why he plays) in the best conference year in and year out. If he was playing in the big ten for Wisconsin and putting up the same numbers and playing the same way nobody would care because those are the type of players that play in the big ten. But to do this on the best team in tthe ACC is a diff story
