that's a great question with no presedent in any other sport. For example OJ was long retired and in the hall of fame already when his issue came up. I can't recall anybody in any sport EVER doing something like this, and they were hall of fame material. I mean you have people like Ray Carruth who killed his wife while he was still in the NFL, but he was far from a hall of fame calibur player. Chris Benoit was a GREAT wrestler, and considering the Hall of Fame is SUPPOSED to honor a person's skills at their particular sport, we all know that there are more things than that that will factor in. I honestly don't know.

and to above poster, steroids cause paranoia, schezophrenia, and roid rage, which roids could have caused itcwalters

I'll try to answer that as bluntly as possible without incriminating myself. NO THEY DON'T. All that stuff you mentioned is very minimal. Yes it could have contributed lets say 10%-15%, but it was not the main factor. It was something deeper, and this stuff MAY have just added fuel to the fire. And the fact that he's a professional wrestler he is fully aware of what it does. I can't confirm this but i'd be more than shocked if he was shooting his kid up w/ steroids. I'm all but certain it was more than likely growth hormone which is a completely different and common thing for children that are smaller than they should be. I don't know if i agree w/ the method, but it's far from out of the oridinary

please don't buy into the whole "roid rage" thing. Anybody who has done solid research, set foot in a weight room, or even experimented with it themselves knows that whole "roid rage" concept is blown WAAAAYYYYY outta proportiion. Roids didn't cause him to kill his family. There was obviously something else going on, and something like alcohol, drugs/steroids, MAY have contributed, but by no means are the end all be all of the situation. I wish these media broadcasters who have never spent a day in a gym or done any firsthand research on their own would do some before saying stuff like that. They have to big of a voice and with the congress involvement in steroids in professional sports these days, the whole "roid rage" seems to be an easy cop out, and one that the public will be ok with because of all the negativity around steroids that has been imbeded in the public's head over the past few years. Which is a shame cause i know, and anybody who has half a brain knows that this whole situation is deeper than "roid rage" and it's incredibly ignorant and irresponsible journalism to blame it solely on that.

guys it doesnt say he did it....i mean it could have been the wife to right??? either way it was one of them or someone planned the perfect murderdanjam2007

according to the news press release the investigators believe he killed his wife and kids the night before then came back the night of the pay per view that he cancelled on, and that's when he killed himself. The exerpts from the press release and the link itself is on the other thread on this topic. Either way, whatever their problems were, there is ALWAYS another option other than this. damn shame

man i was worried this was what the conclusion was going to be, i was just hoping i was wrong. Initially the police said it was being investigated as a homicide and i thought "at least i was wrong", but it turns out i wasn't. Like i said in the other post, the minute i heard that he canceled his appearance at a pay per view i knew something was up. I learned a long time ago to never ever judge a man til you walk a step in their shoes, however i just don't see how this had to be the only conclusion. No matter how bad it is, nothing is worth a person's life, NOTHING

Its hard to believe. I am afraid to think that Chris himself could be responsible. It is just odd that he wasnt at the ppv yesterday because of a "family situation".Dilrod

that's what i thought too when i heard that he backed out of his pay per view appearance just the night before. The fact that his wife, and a CHILD was involved sadly had me believe that this had murder - suicide written all over it. But according to espn.com and a previous post, police are investigating it as a homicide. One thing i know is that generally suicide are pretty self explanatory and the fact that police aren't leaning towards that in anyway makes this situation that much more creepy.

explain to me what playing with one hand does for him or his team. You had to see the game to believe it. Check baseball tonight or sportscenter i'm sure they'll talk about it. It was an absolute joke.

the most selfish player i've seen in a while. This guy basically had his wrist broken last night when he got HBP, but instead of sitting out today's game he felt it was necessary to start to keep HIS consecutive streak going. He couldn't even put his injured hand on the bat. He batted second in the line up, and bunted so he didn't have to swing because he was physically unable to do so. After the at bat he got yanked and is done for the game. I am a Cal Ripken fan so of course i have some bias towards this but that is rediculous. Ripken NEVER did anything like that. He only left the game 2 times in the first inning during his streak and that was because he was ejected for arguing strikes, which is a COMPLETELY DIFFERENT scenerio. I just felt like venting but for a team that is struggling to get in the win column this guy is more worried about his personal issues than the teams success. He just lost any respect he may have had in my book

yea they're playing good but it's june. it's just way too early to talk about who's gonna win it all. A month ago boston was beating the hell out of everybody and looked unbeatable. then they hit a little skid and looked beatable. Now the yanks look great. Since there are so many games in a baseball season you will have numerous hot and cold streaks. I don't like picking anybody until at least september. The season is SO LONG and too many things can happen. But in that weak division the angels definitely should be up near the top all year. But you might want to watch out for Oakland. Anybody who knows baseball knows that for whatever reason the A's season doesn't start til after the all star break when they ALWAYS have one of the best records in the league. but it's too early
