Is there a way to check what the Hard Drive size is without hooking up the PS3? our AV Cable is broken and we are trying to determine the size of the Hard drive.

My Elites drive used to make a bit of a squealing sound sometimes,from brand new last December.I hoped it would go away before the 1 year warranty ran out,but in the end i just ignored it and turned my tv up a touch,i mean,it only used to happen occasionally.

I should get the newer 250Gb Slim if i were you.

My friend dropped his ps3 and the front top cover (the one above the usb/controller port, not the disc reader side) broke pretty bad. luckily the machine is working ok.

Are there any places that sell replacements? I tried a bunch of searches on evil-bay and google with various keywords but could not find any.

Yes definately,and you should be able to use some of your own pics too.

Most of the now available avatars were available at launch of the PS3.

I downloaded it from Sony site a couple of days ago on my pc to transfer to usb memory stick so i could install it on new hard drive i fitted to my 80GB Phat,and it only took approx 8 mins to download.

One other thing missing from the slim though that i notice no one has mentioned?-You can't install Linux on it like you could with the Phat PS3.

I've updated my Ps3 to 3.01 twice without problem.

First time-when i got my new 80GB outta its box last month,and again bowt 4 days ago wheni swopped the 80GB hard drive for a new 320GB hard drive.
