your best bet is to call Sony, they might be able to offer a fix over the phone, before you have to send in.But even if you have to send in for repair,it's gonna be a whole lot cheaper than buying a new PS3.
Rumour has it that we'll all soon be able to buy and download the complete collection of PS2 games along with some Sega Dreamcast games too and be able to play even on our non B.C. 80 GBs

I'm looking for some feedback from people here who own, or have triedthe device. Today's my b-day, and my brother let it slip that that's what he got me. So I'll be recieving it tonight.
From what I've seen there's some stuff in the PSN Store (maybe $15-$20) worth of stuff to play with. Other than what's in the Store for DL, is there any other games I can buy?
Feel free to express your opinion on the PS3 Eye. I want to hear your opinion.

Yea i got one and use it for chat, with sound and vision. And do use it when playing friends on Resistance.
I do believe you might well need one to use with the new motion sensor controller when it comes out too.
Hi Folks, My connection to the internet via PS3 is woeful, I have Virgin media 20mb and its fine on my pc's and phones over my network at home running between 15 and 20 mbs. However my ps3 will not get above 5 mbs download from speedtest sites and even less on the ps3 own checker, as little as 800kbs. Upload seems fine @750kbps most of the time. My connection shows 100% on wirless N router, and the speeds are no better if I wire it. Any suggestions appriciated.TouchingCloth
I got the same sort of Virgin set up,except i use a Linksys wireless G-WRT54GS for my wireless connection and it works just spot on.
Basically, my 60GB broke the other day, which means I have now had 5 refurbished units die on me. :(
So, I want to purchase a new model, and get away from the YLOD that the 60GB mostly suffers from. Now, I'm not too sure which PS3 to buy, the 80GB or PS3 Slim? I would have gone for the PS3 Slim, but I've heard it gets very hot, which questions the reliability of the system. I've heard good things about the 80GB too. Anyone here have the 80GB? If so, have you suffered the YLOD yet?
Cheers

Yep-I just bought a 80GB brand new last week.I was saving for a slim, but got a really good deal on a brand new 80GB-saved £50 on price of slim.I had a 60GB until bowt Feb of this year and i remember it used to run very Hot.But i've noticed that my new 80 runs cooler and quite a bit quieter, cos the fans aren't working so hard i guess?I'm well pleased with my 80 and glad i bought it-i actually prefer the style of the Phat PS3 over the slim, but also would buy a slim in future if my 80 ever breaks.
