if there was ONE thing you could change, what would it be?

for me, i would like a different ending. if link stabs ganon with the master sword one more time, i might stab everyone at nintendo. LOL, but seriously, i think the reason this wont be remembered as much is because we have seen it before, twice. the midna part will stand out, but the stab needs to go. why not do like an omnislash, and then he gets engulfed by light created by the master sword, and then blows up? just not another stab

reborn as kingdom hearts?

why the heck would we want nintendo to make a kingdom hearts game under the zelda title? When we can just go and buy kingdom hearts!

and the twilight princess story was great! You people are just overly critical.

Wintry_Flutist

What was so great about the story? If they did just a simple story to explain why you're doing you're quest, as in every Zelda, no one would complain. But it's clear Nintendo tried to make a memorable story, with Midna problems, Zant, the "group that fights for Hyrule", Ilia's memory and Colin's bullsh!t. However, every one of those aspects is treated superfically, and is put to shame by real story driven games, like Metal Gear Solid or Final Fantasy. If there's one thing everyone has the right to complain (and that has nothing to do with being overly critical), is when a Zelda element supposed to be well done isn't fully delivered.

zelda TP's story was great. and last i checked, the game was story driven. the story is what got you to one dungeon and the next

It was weakly story driven. The story added little to the game. It's hard to make a good story in a game with a "go to dungeon, get item, defeat boss, repeat" structure. Nintendo tried to change that feeling adding a story, but the result is far from impressive. Other Zelda games didn't need that to make you go to the next dungeon, expect in very few key points.

well, this is your opinion. i think that the story was great. and it was story driven, but not completely. the story was so good, that you could go on for hours without completing a dungeon. sidequests also helped

It seems that by "gameplay change" most people mean adding even more gameplay elements to Zelda, like more status  and weapons options. There's no real change here. Not only it has been done before, but reading an interview where Aonuma says "and now you can upgrade Link's weapons with experience points" would feel weird. Zelda would sound like another RPG, I don't want to see that, and it wouldn't be a "never seen Zelda"as Miyamoto promised.

Moreover, that would be the same mistake Nintendo did with Twilight Princess. Pick a proven concept (why not, hm, let's say, the best game ever?) and add to it. Failproof, right? No. In a industry in which there are now many more stellar games than Zelda, adding content doesn't make it. The result: for the first time I have to read comments such as "Zelda is getting old". Considering the recent 3D Zeldas before TP, Ocarina of Time, Majora's Mask, Wind Waker, it's clear that Nintendo did the best not to let Zelda get old. But with TP, I have to hear about the "Zelda fall". And you all know it's not fanboyism going on. Many people, Zelda fans and Wii owners got disappointed.

So please don't say the gameplay change Zelda needs is adding pre-existing content from other games. And think about it before making another "what Zelda needs" thread. It can be more than it, and I have faith it will. By change, it really has to mean change. Not added content, change. Keep what's worth keeping for the future (and for you Zelda fanboys, no, it's not "everything") get rid of the rest and replace it by new, fresh, unseen, unheard, unexperienced content. Then it's change, then it may be an unarguable AAA and, who knows, an arguable AAAA.

Wintry_Flutist

i agree except for the last sentence. zelda TP WAS AAA. you cant only go by what gamespot says. overall, TP was a 9.5

If TP WAS AAA, no site would have given less than 9, and so many complains wouldn't be posted in forums. Kinda like Ocarina of Time, you see very few people disagreeing. The 'low' reviews (8-9) among the AAA ones just reflect exactly the overal gamers opinion: a fair share is strongly disappointed with it, considering Zelda standards. Then you have those who think Zelda was AAA but, indeed, not that surprising or new as former Zeldas, and then the few ones who think TP is the best thing since sliced bread.

go to gamerankings and come back later

i just had to ask. 8.8 is a great score, but we all expect better scores from games like TP, Halo 3, and MGS4. on a side note, i think all fanboys (nintendo, microsoft, and sony) would rally together against gamespot.

however, i go by gamerankings. GS is just ONE site. on gamerankings, TP averages a 95, and so will Halo 3 and MGS4 or even higher IMO

1. First off, The need to change the gameplay. we have seen this gameplay in four 3D zelda games so far(Ocarina, Majoras Mask, Wind Waker, and TP).

they need to add something, maybe take some things from Kingdom hearts, where you can upgrade your skills, etc, and upgrade your keyblade, in this case, your sword.

2. They need some Voice acting. Im not saying link has to talk, but i mean the secondary characters should talk. It will help the game vastly, and so will adding orcastrated music versus MIDI.

3. They need a real story. Twilight princess' story was WEAK. i really believe they should make a trilogy of some sort, with an actual continuing story, a la kingdom hearts(again). Kingdom hearts, imo, has a fantasic story, and thats why i love kingdom hearts so much.

I think with these 3 things updated/added, The legend of zelda series could be reborn.

anybody else have anything they would like to see in the next zelda?

Haziqonfire

he mentioned kingdom hearts 4 times. Fanboy much? anyways, the only one i agree with is #2. it would be nice to have some voice acting, but MIDI doesnt take away from the overall experience IMO. the other two are stupid. upgrade your sword? this isnt god of war or kingdom hearts. link will never pull off those combos. however, upgrading arrows, bombs, etc. might be cool. oh, and number 3 was ********************. TP had a fantastic story, second only to OOT

How am i a fanboy? Plus, TP's story was WEAK.

how are you a fanboy? you are trying to change zelda into kingdom hearts. also, the story wasnt weak. i will even go as far as saying better than............kingdom hearts, even though i love kingdom hearts

[QUOTE="Duckman5"]This is kind of off-topic but have you noticed how no one says how to improve Mario games? What does that mean? ;)Omni-Slash
means no-one cares about mario anymore....hasn't had a great game since Mario 64,,,(SPM aside).....

i must disagree. sunshine was a great game. so was the mario 64 remake. and have you ever heard of new super mario bros. also, i must apologize to everyone for these consecutive posts
