@Attitude2000: in a year it wont be twice the price......a almost 6tf GPU right now in PC land as a whole card with voltage controllers, memory, heat sink PCB board and connections is only 200 bucks.....to make just the chip it cant cost more then a 100 bucks......
@mi_hung_lo: im basing this on current prices of PC hardware......i dont see more then 600 bucks and i really think it will be 500.....will wait and see but with PC hardware so cheap running almost the 6tf on the GPU side it wont be as crazy priced as every one thinks.....
@drizzygadget: show proof of AMD not dropping Zen until 2018 as everything i can find still shows first consumer version will be out at the end of this year!!! ASUS already has AM4 motherboards listed.....we even have test charts showing how the CPU's do VS some intel chips from a press release.....the 8 core that is coming looks like its going to be a good contender.....8 cores with 16 logic cores would nice if they can get it under 300 bucks to go head to head with a 1000 dollar extreme i7..........
@wayneextremity: your both right AND WRONG.....whats wrong.....the pro is not running a 480.....that would have kicked it up a couple of rungs on the food chain and been AWESOME as the 480 is running 5.6tf or something close to that.....what he got wrong is basing the Scorpio on the 480 as well......the year time frame will give them more options as AMD is about to drop new CPU's and GPU's MS could pick from or have custom version made based on the new chips.....what he also got wrong is the level of optimization that can be done on the consoles with way more base level access then PC could ever hope for.....both have points but i really think 30 frame 4k is coming....me myself and i would be happy with 2k rendering at 60 frames on a 1080p or 4k screen as its still a major jump from games running 900p at 30 frames......
@Flyin3lvl: because they just dropped this console and the rumors of that happening would kill the sale of the PRO as people would wait for the new version.....plus what is it going to be??? PS5.... ps4.7.......what your missing is the fact sony just dropped 2 new consoles in the pro and the slim.....they are locked in for at least the next 2 years.....and maybe 3 years.....oh man it would suck to get to a point a new version came out from one or the other every year.......please not like cell phones....what happened to getting at least 5 years out of a single console????.......what your saying would give us 4 version of the PS4.......plus it would only be a year apart from something that truly has new hardware and you would end up with a ton of version for game makers to try and program for.......its just stupid on every level.....
@louixiii: 4k 120hz monitors were shown at CES this year and will be out soon for the crazy price of 5 grand for a 30inch version......japan has had 4k 120hz cams from their TV station NHK since 2014.......yes i get the hardware is not there to run 120hz at 4k but someone is working on it.......and 8k is already 4 years old with 4k just over 10 years old......
@Kevin75: im not calling complete bull shit at this point but im calling bull shit on 60 frames at 4k on AAA games......
first.....optimization does so much for the hardware because of the base level of access its not even funny.......9tf is needed on the PC to get some what there as its running full versions of Direct X and windows with a lot of over head......
second we dont know what the GPU and CPU will truly be in Scorpio.....with AMD about to drop new version of both that 6tf could be a new chip set we know nothing about.....raw numbers in TF counts give a clue but they never tell everything.....plus with most console gamers happy with what they have at 30 frames it makes it a lower bar to hit then trying to get to a real 60 frames.....i really see ok looking native 4k at 30 frames coming......and i also kinda thing the better looking games will be ones running 2k with up scaling as they will have some head room on the hardware left to give better textures and other things like lighting affects......
third.....even running a stripped version of DX in the back round DX 12 runs better on AMD hardware then it does on nivida like the whole of DX 12 was written for AMD only.......that is going to go a long way in programing anything on the scropio just in its own right.......
forth......its really up to the game makers....sony said the game makers can do what they want and its going to have to be the same for MS game makers as well........so now game makers have 2 console gens to program for all over again BUT the great bonus right now that at least on some level the coding will run on both versions.....so how much money do they invest in to making great looking games for a console that will have a smaller market???
fifth.....AMD has always made cheap hardware.....a 480 only cost 200 bucks now to make and that is at retail plus runs at 5.6tf or something close to that.....making it as just a chip cant cost more then a 100 bucks to make(im not saying a 480 can run 4k as we know it cant and again we dont know what its really going to be based on) but 6tf VS 5.5 sounds close enough to get a base line of cost im really thinking it wont be over 600 bucks and maybe even come in at the 500 dollar mark......if just the GPU cost about a 100 bucks the rest of it cant cost more then 500 to build
^^^^ ALL OF THIS will be factors over the next 3 years of how well this round of consoles do....plus i must have to say i really think this way of releasing new consoles is going to hold things back and make for divided groups even among the PS fan boys and MS fan boys as the people spending extra money on the new version will want way better looking games like they jump from PS1 to PS3 or something.........
@sladakrobot: yup.....and the only thing that will make the cards fall to one side should be games but its going to be fan boys on ponies or ridding the 1.5 live train........
