I remember the PS2 games had light rpgish elements in one of the modes....depends on what modes there are I guess

I initially thought "hell yeah it did" but then I wondered what childhood means....before secondary/high school and my teenage years? Because I got a PS1 in the late 90s, around 99 I think it was. Before that, I'd played games on PC and older consoles but gaming wasnt that big for me.
It wasnt until a handful of years later and the arrival of the PS2 that I really got invested into gaming and honestly, that was gaming's peak from a creative and gameplay standpoint. But would my early teen years count as a childhood? I dunno.
I will add the classics on the PS1 were amazing and pushed what gaming had done for 15+ years before, from MGS to Crash and Tekken.
@loudonwiii: Yes, Soul Calibur 2 is alongside tekken 3 the pinnacle of 3d beat em up. I remember we used to have days at school with no lessons just in the build up to xmas and easter, and someone would bring in a console, wed bring our controllers and off we went. SC2 was my cout de tat, no one could stop me.
If they bring back the accessible but deep controls, the fluid fighting and the best characters, this is a must buy.
Unless ofc they force me to buy season pass crap and not actually go down the unlock route.
Someone mentioned the Army Men games and I remember playing one of them on my PS1. It was actually a lot of fun.
Well I guess you mean Uncharted and co? If you dont like it, plenty of alternatives, many of them PS4 exclusives and lots of "gameplay" focused 3rd party releases. The biggest issue, the gameplay has stalled and theer are too many games with microtransactions.
Lots of negativity surrounding KZ but the original had some really cool ideas (I liked the multiple characters and skills) and teh sequel was an exceptional sequel with one of the best mp communities out there.
If they could create a new KZ, more in line with KZ2, put in a great sp campaign and lots of mp options, without the need for loot boxes and microtransactions then they would be on to a winner.
Well the games are genuinely aimed at kids, however that does not negate adults can enjoy them a lot too. Problem is, its a system with too few games that are worth more than a quick bit of fun.
