The 3DS would have done better if they wouldn't have sold it for $250 and if they had at least one system seller at launch. Another huge factor is that they should have marketed it better, they went with the name 3DS for brand recognition, but it kind of back-fired since they didn't emphasize that it was a new system all together enough. Now a lot of people just think it's a new DS with a 3D effect. They honestly should have just came up with something new and not focused so much on the 3D effect. Despite how cool the 3D effect actually is, people are losing interest in 3D all together and aren't going to buy a system whose main selling point is the 3D graphics. I love Nintendo but they kind of messed up, hopefully the price cut will fix the problem soon.. I love the 3DS so far and I really do want it to be successful.

I've heard complaints that DS games on the 3DS are lower quality than on the DSi, but I only ever had the phat DS and going from that to the 3DS was a HUGE improvement. So, yeah I'd recommend picking it up and then getting the good 3DS games as well as some amazing DS games you missed out on.
It'd work for some games.. but games like The World Ends With You or Zelda Spirit Tracks just wouldn't.
No casual market=no video game market=no "hard core" market. Never understood why people don't understand this and why they cry about too many casual games... just ignore them and play the games you like. Problem solved.
I'll never understand the people who denounce 3D without trying it. It's an awesome effect and unless you're one of the unlucky people who gets headaches or eye strains when playing it, I don't understand why people want to hate it. I never really 3D would add that much or be very cool but then I actually tried the system and realized that while it might not have a huge effect on gameplay, the effect works well and looks pretty cool.
[QUOTE="ZIVX"]That commercial is long, with ads, you have about 10 secs before people lose interest. You can only tout one thing in 10 seconds and you might as well go for systems gimmick. I think the best way to advertise it is to simply focus on the games, they have a lot of software coming up and they should focus on that and end it with "Only on Nintendo 3DS" You have to keep it simple with advertisement.Absolutely and Nintendo is finally realizing it, this is why that after 4 months of little advertising and concentrating on 3D (which might actually been a negative thing for the 3DS considering 3D movies are losing popularity) they're finally realeasing commercials like this

Since when is a minute long commercial too long? That's about you're average length of a commercial and this one starts off pretty well show-casing some "hardcore" (not "kiddy" mario) games with decent graphics and declares the next generation is here. I'm thinking anyone remotely interested in games would be invested in the commercial by this point.
Just my two cents.
You're actually getting over $80 worth of games, 10 NES and 10 GBA. $5 apiece on Wii VC for the NES games and lets say GBA is the equivalent of SNES which are $8 apiece. I spent $250 for the 3DS, $0.96 for OOT, and $25 for StreetFighter4 (Amazon credit from online surveys and promos) and I feel completely satisfied in my purchases. Now I get $130ish worth of games for free. They didnt have to give anybody anything. No problems from this guy, Thank you Nintendo.

And that's just for VC prices, if you wanted to invest in physical copies of these games you're looking at significantly more than $80.
yay the worst nes games they could give us they will Metroid Fusion and yoshi's island is the only listed ones worth getting free or pay forelbert_b_23
Zelda and Mario are awesome and there's still 5 more they haven't announced... Mario 3 would be amazing.
