Nintendo's major franchises have been around longer than one generation. All of them have had their ups and down yet people will still by them. Why? Nostalgia? I think so. We remember those good games back when, we want to experience that feeling again. And I think Nintendo does this better than anyone. But my question is, is that good?

Sony has managed to create new IPs with success. Although Sony fans want the old games they used to play, they don't exactly get their wish. Microsoft sort of did the same thing Nintendo did with Halo.

Is nostalgia a tool to exploit or is it just a cheap cop out?

What say you, System Wars?

Nintendo doesn't really rely on nostalgia, they rely on established IPs that are very marketable due to their hug success. If nostalgia plays in to why some people continue to buy their games, then so be it, but their games are still amazing... Mario Galaxy 1 AND 2 aren't just considered to be some of the greatest games ever made because they have Mario in them....

Besides Nintendo continues to create new IPs just not as much as some people would like.

I'm interested in it but I probably wont ever try it out until it drops in price or goes on sale. I bought Deus Ex on a Steam sale not too long ago but I haven't even been able to finish the first level.. I normally don't mind old games but I just can't get into it when there are so many other things to play.

Anybody who thinks this is a good idea should be smacked. It's just going to hurt consumers and benefit pirates even more since pirates will ALWAYS find a to crack it. Literally, there is not a single game that has DRM protection that I can't do a quick google search to find and be able to play it without the cons of the DRM. Having a constant internet connection is an absurd idea and I just don't understand how anybody can honestly wish that they would force this on us.

deathshand707

You kind of contradicted yourself there, why would it help pirates, when you clearly said that they "ALWAYS" find a way around things. What are you really trying to argue here. If im not mistaken the Diablo 3 connectivity is to make sure that people cant farm gear offline and sell it online.. am I wrong? IF that was possible I would see a big hole in diablos new auction system.

Because pirates will be able to play the game without needing to have it authenticated by the company's servers... while the honest paying costumers won't be able to play it in the case that they don't have a good internet connection in general or just if their internet goes down.

As for Diablo 3, I can't really say since I haven't been following the development of the game, but this form of DRM is not something that should become mainstream. Hell I have a pretty fast connection that rarely goes down and when I'm at school I have an even more reliable connection, but you shouldn't be FORCED to be connected to the internet for single player games.. it's as simple as that.

Mass Effect 2 will have more meaning to you if you play Mass Effect 1 first since you can import your save.
