Every Switch is sold at profit. Even at 90% cost, Nintendo earns $30 per Switch. Back as far as April, Nintendo had already sold approximately 3 million units. That's $90 million profit from launch to April. If sold at even 95% cost that's $45 million profit. Many expect 10 million sold by year's end. This isn't even including accessory or game sales.
@preacher001: Oh really? How about every financial analyst under the sun saying a $499 price point is a "tough sell" and "won't help reignite interest in Xbox"? From GamesIndustry.biz to VGChartz to Forbes to Washington Post all saying the same thing.
Then let's look historically. Every console to be priced at $500 or above has failed. The Neo Geo failed. The 3DO failed. The CD-i failed. All praised as "the most powerful console" at the time. The PS3 was failing hard until they dropped the price and it took almost the console's entire lifespan to catch up.
Then let's take into account that while there was interest in "Project Scorpio" that interest has now simmered down in a matter of days and it all boils down to the same thing -- "$500 to play the same games I can already play on my Xbox One/Xbox One S".
Yeah, you're right. I have no clue about the consumer market...
All this will end up being is a social statement for middle/upper class people like owning the latest i-Phone.
If you're already $500 deep, you might as well chip in a little more for a gaming PC. At least that will last the next 10 years and have more gaming options available.
This is a really bad roster imo. Of the 14 characters on Capcom's side, 10 of them are returning from the previous game. You choose Nemesis over Wesker? Both Arthur and Firebrand? The biggest crime may be including "Monster Hunter" and absolutely no one from Power Stone in a game about the Infinity Stones. The only excitement found here is in X, Sigma, and Jedah. Which, btw, why do they insist on putting more than one Darkstalkers characters in these crossover games when we can't get them to make a full fledged Darkstalkers sequel?
The Marvel side obviously is nothing but MCU bait. Rocket(and Groot) and Gamora but no Starlord? Good to see Thanos come back, but that was pretty much a given considering the direction of the MCU. There's nothing new or exciting here except maybe Ultron.
Rosters are getting smaller and smaller for this series as well. Gotta milk out that DLC and "Ultimate" editions...
@Richardthe3rd: Street Fighter fanboy detected. Even if, and this is a big 'if', the game is a better fighter than what is offered on most other platforms, it still isn't worth paying 40 dollars for a 26 year old game.
@AccursedGamer: They elaborate a little bit in Chapter 2, but there are still a lot of things left to mystery. If this series proved one thing, it is that sometimes less is more.
@walidras: I don't know man. When I make a post claiming that a large group of people are stupid, I try not to sound stupid myself. Guess having that masters degree keeps you too busy to check your work, and at the same time, too poor to invest in something with spellcheck/auto-correct.
