Eh, I might like these kinds of games if they had more control. I like deep stories and incredible atmospheres in games, but only if they serve the purpose of complimenting great playability or controls.

Hehe. This guy knows how to advertise a game properly. When he started talking about simple button presses that most fighting games don't have....that was the best point he could make. The ridiculous amount of must-know techniques to help one in fighting games is generally what keeps people away from them. Simple button mapping plus in depth rpg elements is what made Dissidia awesome.

Is Nintendo really that naive to believe that any group of people are willing to work together for a common goal regarding entertainment purposes? People can only play the way they already instinctively do, there's just no way around that....unless you force yourself, but that defeats the purpose of having fun.

Nice to see some kind of traditional controller design, but Nintendo needs to stop pushing the "bring everybody together" thing. It just doesn't work because it's human nature for people to do what they want without being hassled or forced through hoops. It's not even a bad thing to be happy alone when playing a game....in fact those ARE the best times.

Sometimes I thought video games could be art, but the fact is that their purpose is recreation. A video game's ultimate existence is to be played to the end that it was designed as. The only video game that would even make sense as pure art would be some kind of omnipotent and evolving imagination simulator that recreates whatever the user thinks of or expresses perfectly. And even then...the question of "Is the video game itself art, or is just what the video game can create considered art?" needs to be asked.

Right on, United Front. But not only for the consumers, the developers as well. Think of all the games that could have been, but never were because development costs were too high.

I don't know...at this point in time I'm caring less and less about graphical capabilities. Unless developers can actually utilize higher processing power WITHOUT watering down things like exploration, story, and scope the gaming industry is going to keep getting more expensive for game developers to bring about their games. Or if they do develop new games, they're not going to be at the levels they used to be due to the increasing development costs.

If anything, I think we need to let other developers catch up with the current gen; or at least not go so far as to make it insanely expensive for game developers to make games in later generations, hell let's just stick with the graphics we have now for a while. That way not only can we GET games from developers that wouldn't have risked putting too much stock into high development costs, the games can be more polished and have more options put into them. I've realized over this generation that while the quality of immersion in gaming has increased, the ability for developers to provide game designs that we once took for granted like explorable levels and worlds, instant/short loading times, and amazing and unforgettable stories have severely decreased in quality. Those are only going to get worse if the industry pushes for such graphical capabilities. Besides, how far in technically proficient graphics do we really have left until everything is completely life like? Let's allow all developers to catch up so we can not only enjoy all of their games, but enjoy BETTER games. Plus more competition will eventually allow for even better games from all developers anyways.
