@MigGui: Yeah this is what I've been trying to figure out. But you've got to imagine a game that probably lasts about twenty hours wouldn't have sixteen hours of spoken dialog from one character. And even if she did have sixteen hours of total dialog, and spent five hours of work for each recorded hour, that would still be like $50/hr, which is quite high.
It's funny, a lot of the Steam reviews are complaining that the game doesn't have enough combat. But it looks like those are mostly from people who have played it less than an hour. Still, this game looks uneven enough that I'm not going to blow $40 on it. The setting is definitely intriguing, but I'll wait for a big discount. Maybe by next Halloween it'll be time to give it a shot.
Prediction: The Marvels is going to bomb. Captain Marvel did so well because it was shoehorned in front of perhaps the most highly anticipated movie of all time. Without that incentive, no one cares. Once upon a time I was excited about a potential new Fantastic Four movie, but considering the mess they've been making since Avengers: End Game, my enthusiasm has faded. Like others have said, I'm glad I've got plenty of other non-Disney media to keep myself entertained. Support passionate indie creators in all things.
@mooglestar: Yes, there's an ad-free version, and it's almost twice as much as the ad-supported plan. I think it's worth it though, since I'm trying to live an ad-free life.
To be clear, Ghostbusters: Afterlife wasn't a reboot. It was a continuation of the original pair of films. Otherwise why would we be calling the next one Ghostbusters 4?
