Hey Everyone!

I'm Matt (aka The guy in green in the middle) standing with my two roommates (coolest people I know) (outside of the Union of course :D)

Now I've always been a fan of scantily dressed women in gaming but this time it's doesn't seem to hit the same chord as it did last time. The freaky head piece and the finger claws are a little scary for me. I agree that this sci-fi change is a little much bit it doesn't look like they ruined it...her face is still quite quite nice to look at.

The only thing I wish they did was allow you to get more than 9 spells at a time once the magic got over a certain number when junctioning. Yeah cheat codes! I agree completely that battleing a blue bug for 20 mins just to get 100 of the basic spells for all of the main characters was the worst part of VIII. At least make the draw animation more fun to watch repeatedly for hours and hours. Which is why I think that Square made the item/card refinement system with some of the top GF's (bypass the draw system, just make your magic!). The storyline was very good, the fmv's were top notch, the music was phenomenal and the junction system was so ingenius that it made VIII more fun to play than most other FF's on the PSOne.

I'd always prefer magic over summons. In VII they were useful in boss fights but not in the general gameplay, VIII they were for the Junctioning but I did use them alot near the end in boss fights and I mean ALOT :)  in IX they were highly useful and probably the coolest looking (Bahamut without eyes!) as far as FMV's go, and in X they were used mainly as damage rags to not kill off my party and that was about the extent of the aeons existence.

I only used them in XII once just to see what they looked like and to open the door in Giruvegan (required). Other than that I stick to magic. Summons are cool and all and serve their purpose but for general gaming and leveling up I'd much prefer magic (less MP to use).

A less expensive and similar trick can be done using the Urutan-Yensa in the Sand Sea. I was able to get my chain over 200! in just over half an hour. An amazing trick that can never be overlooked. Nice post.

Compared to all 3 PSOne games I think VIII had the worst graphics (aside from FMV's which were very well done). The draw system was repetitive, buggy, and not very creative (however the Junction system was pure genius (wish that would come back), the overworld was confusing because all of the terrain looked the same, and the character animations (walking, running, battle stances, etc.) were not, well "realistic". . I don't know about you but I don't run with my arms at 90 degree angles and I know for a fact I can't jump backwards over 10 feet to my original position. Even the magic left something to be desired when cast. Now don't get me wrong the missions, character's attitudes, and storyline was S-E qualified work for the time and console. But to say the graphics were the best of all 3 on the PSOne sounds more like the musings of a fan of that game and that game only. VII's scenery and battle scene backgrounds well very well done and overall IX was a much more visually pleasing game in it's entireity.

I am going to rate it as one of the top 3 best FF's they have made so far (along with FF7 and 9). Story is very very intense and the battle system is a departure but it doesn't stray too far that you can't understand it. The new summons (Espers) are quite fascinating to use but overall useless if you have good weapons, armor and gambit set up. I think that if you like the Xeno series and Vagrant story then you are going to quite enjoy this game.

Just from looking at the trailers it seems that XIII is going to be a more traditional storydriven type of FF (that is going to utilize the ultra-secretive "White Engine"), whereas VXII looks, finally, like a non-cartoony Kingdom Hearts upgrade (it even says in the trailer "from the producers of Kingdom Hearts"). VXIII is one of the 5 games coming out in the "Fabula Novalis Crystallis" series of XIII's Square-Enix is creating. It is utilizing the exact same fighting engine as KH with a few updates for the PS3. The press releases for it state that the blue haired guy is the prince of that city and he is protecting a powerful crystal in that church from the army coming to steal it. I found this site that should prove most useful in explaining alot.
