every ones jumping ship! ff XIII will go multiconsole" but i never heard any real rumors or anything that might have some truth in it.GlassDominion
The discovery deal isnt actually from square, ita a tri-ace game. Tri-ace's sound dept are the guys who made Eternal Sonata. As odd as that sounds.

Dude... its compressed.gagit811
if it is than their just filling the disc up with useless junk. Someone said the game has all languages, probably has both pal and ntsc versions on the disc. that alone would take up space.

That shows you have 0 knowledge of how this is done. As with most PS3 title the game has most of not all languages and translations on the same disk. This radically cuts down on costs. Becuase the PS3 uses 24bit uncompressed sound it takes up alot of space (despite the name it is still compressd with lossless compression but that can only halve its size at best). This takes up alot of room. Even so this is only going to take up around 5-10gis on most titles. Then you have to consider 1080p video, and such as well. Games are getting big fast. As for your clams of compression on textures without any quality decrease, texture compression is in hardware on all most consoles and PCs. There is a quality loss even at the lower levels however it allows to fit more in video ram. Many games ship with both and only use compression when needed.

id like a bit of free space for messing round, but New York isnt exactly a place where you can setup a farm.

upscaled. not native resolution. (doesn't have to be either, 720P is the hot spot in gaming. 1080p is overrated right now in gaming)Always-Honest
1080p native is a pretty awesome, just much harder to do.

its not that its needed, the developers didn't take the time to code and compress files. Why spend the time to compress when you don't need to. I can guarantee you that if they wanted to fit it on a 9gig dvd they could with the whole game in tact. if it meant lower resolution textures so be it. but with compression tech of today they can decrease the size of texture files by 70% while not diminishing graphical quality of current texture files. It just takes time and $$.

360 nor ps3 can handle crysis, and a dumbed down version of it would just take away from the experience. the beta barely runs on my pc as it is, and if it had to be scaled down even more for a console, it'd suck.TENTHROW2
yeah, crytek pretty much said highend DX9 PCs will be running the game barebones, consoles have no chance.

its one of my 24 reasons i got a ps3 to go with my 360.

but yeah, in all reality the rumors about FFXIII going multiconsole never went far. i hardly heard those rumors.

GlassDominion
Square is releasing lots of new RPGs and many will goto the 360 and other consoles, but they'll keep their flagship stuff on the PS3 due to the market they're aiming for and the technical reasons (storage).

Okay I don't completely get Home, is it free in an update? And whats up with all this buying things, as in you gotta use your credit card to buy a virtual couch or something? Or is it in points?Ejay5
Home is a separate download you can choose to get. Its free thanks to some ads ingame and item transactions. There is tons of free stuff to you for clothes furniture etc but with each home supporting game you buy youll get more. You can however buy premium items such as views for your apartment, larger apartments and things like pool tables and big screen TVs.
