What gamer am I? I play all types of games, from Wii Sports, to Metroid, to Smash Bros., to Call of Duty, to Uncharted, and everything in between.

@PureSkillAndLuk Things never changed, actually. Sony has always had free online, going back to the PS2 era. Microsoft's only competition in the online gaming space has been Sony and Valve (Steam).

Microsoft has always charged for their premium service, yet no one complained back then.

Uh, Xbox Live Gold has always been like this, even back in the PS2/Xbox/GameCube era. Why are people complaining about this now? If you guys haven't gotten used to it by now, then what have you been doing since 2002?

You people seem so ungrateful. It doesn't matter what the hardware is, just play the games you enjoy. The success of mobile gaming has shown that you don't need to define gaming in "generations". It's an outdated concept that really doesn't matter anymore.
