The 'soul' as you say means nothing.. i know what you mean with charm and everything but you know that comes not from the game mechanics itself but from the lovable Nintendo characters in it...

as i said am not implying that MK has terrible gameplay, its a great game but surely its gets points for having those famous nintendo characters in it..

Finally, the same fun you have when a friend of yours unleashes weapons etc on your while racing, is the same you would get when in MNR your pal would fire at you the weapons collected while racing... MNR doesnt lack fun, fun cannot be measured... in MK you are racing a kart from point A to B against opponents, and that is fun.. in MNR you are doing the same and that is not FUN???? i will never understand that..

It's like the difference between GTA San Andreas and GTA IV. On a sheer technical scale, which is better? GTA IV. Yet which is more fun? GTA SA. Games dont get their soul from their gameplay mechanics or their polish as you seem to imply- there's something else they should have, something that can't be quanitifed. It's the reason why SNES games are still better than anything any modern console can churn out today.

Wow you are horribly wrong. Your bias or nostalgia means nothing with regard to a games quality :? And Red Dead Redemption is better than just about any SNES game you care to mention.

Even better than.......:o *gasp* Chrono Trigger.

I haven't gotten around to playing ModNation yet but...........I still love MarioKart. I really don't see why people actually compare the games seeing that they both serve different purposes. Example: MarioKartis more of aarcadegame with a little nostalgia thrown in that relys on pure skill, quick thinking and luck. ModNation relys on the players imagination to become an excellent game and when you are done you'll probably get the MarioKart feeling while playing the tracks.I predict that this will eventually turn into a "Metroid vs. Halo" type debate which was VERY redundant last generation.

Also, why does everyone seem to have a problem with MarioKart's weapons. I like the weapons in the game because they actually provide some kind of challenge to the game. The Blue Shell and Bullet Bill are the only powerful weapons in the game. You can avoid virtually every single obsticle in the game if you think fast and look ahead. The game even alerts you of oncoming threats. I thought people could handle MarioKart......guess I was wrong.

[QUOTE="Funconsole"]

So in other words, you're aksing Gameplay vs graphics???

I pick gameplay (Metroid)

gaming25

more like cartoon vs realism. Not trying to bash anything either (unlike you were).

Which one is the cartoon because they both look realistic to me.

Anyway....I choose Metroid simply because: A) I'm a huge Metroid fan, B) I've never played Killzone and I hear it's not that good and C) as most people have said it's gameplay vs. graphics.

[QUOTE="Respawn-d"]

[QUOTE="OreoMilkshake"]Wii has tons of quality non-mario games.Willy105

....................

like?

That's kinda your fault if you are so out of the loop that you only know of Mario. It's like only knowing the PS3 only has Warhawk.

Actually, Warhawk (PS3) is actually a remake of the original Warhawk for PS1. It should be more like "knowing the PS3 only has Gran Turismo".

Lets say Nintendo suddenly stopped making mario games. Could the system survive (in terms of quality not sales)

How about xbox. If Bungiee suddenly stopped making Halo games for 360 would it beging to die in terms of quality.

What about Playstation. If Sony were to suddenly stop making Gow or uncharted games would PlayStation begin to start dieng in quality)

Respawn-d

None of these companies would suffer in terms of quality. Miyamoto, David Jaffe and the creator(s)of Halo (I don't know their names) will still be geniuses without those franchises. Also, another thing to remeber is that these aren't the only franchises they have. IMO MSoft will be hit the hardest because IMHO I think that Halo is MSoft's only DECENT franchises. Everything else is dead to me. But Ninty and Sony could recover easily mainly because they have more hit franchises due to them being in the Industry much longer.

To me it feels like the year of the Wii (in terms of exclusives). I can only think of 2 exclusives this year for 360 (Reach and Alan Wake) and3 for the PS3(MAG, Heavy Rain, GoW 3). But that's just my opinion (and many others).

I was surfin' YouTube today when I found this gem on the front page.

Really kick starts the 'ol nostalgia machine.
