Aang and the rest of the GAang watched the 2nd war balloon fall as it exploded upon impact with the ground, killing many Fire Nation soldiers ahead of them.
“Well, guess that demon is a chicken after all,” said Noku, relaxing a bit.
“Didn’t know Azula wouldn’t lead her own troops,” said Ty Lee.
They cut the chatter as more tanks came advancing. But these were different tanks now. These looked like they had spikes everywhere in the front and sides of them. There was also no one firing from the cockpit.
“They’re going to try and run us over, take them out!!” ordered Aang.
The GAang (without Sokka and Suki) fired what they had at the tanks. But the armor on them was twice as thick and they were rolling at full speed.
“Fall back to the 2nd line!!” ordered Noku.
They got up from the 1st trench, along with some surviving soldiers, and dived into the 2nd trench. Some catapults of the AoF were in this trench, making it more cramped. Some close range catapults managed to hit the tanks and it stopped them. But it wasn’t the end of those few tanks. The doors opened from them to reveal it was a troop transport as Firebenders ran out of the damaged armored tank. Toph was able to surround the soldiers with a large earth wall before they fired at the people. The wall, however, was destroyed by other Firebenders supporting the tanks. Aang, Ito, and Toph bended another wall and smashed them back inside the tank. But while they were worrying about that 1 transport, more and more tanks, armored transports, and soldiers were advancing. It seemed hopeless as many soldiers from the 2nd trench were already falling back to the last trench behind them. The only ones now in the 2nd trench were the GAang. They were surrounded by tanks and soldiers by 180 degrees, which was in front of them and to their left and right. Noku looked at Aang again, giving him a look. Aang nodded as they both climbed out of the trenches.
“You guys get to the last trench, we’ll handle this!” ordered Aang.
“But-“
“Now!!”
They had no choice but to listen to them. They just climbed out of the trenches and into the last trench, along with the entire army, which had taken heavy casualties. Noku and Aang both triggered their Avatar State or Guider form and rose from the ground. The soldiers around them looked horrified and over half of them retreated; seeing them and their glowing eyes or electric eyes. Aang unleashed a barrage of rocks to rise from the ground to destroy many of the armored transports. The tanks were getting obliterated by Noku’s furry of blue fire that was mixed with lightning. Then, out of nowhere, a lightning bolt was flying at them. Noku managed to bend it out of the way and to the side before it hit them. The blast came from the biggest armored transport as Azula walked onto the fields with the best of the best Firebenders, who were wearing all metal armor and the most terrifying masks that looked like demons.
“So, you ended up entering the battle,” said Noku in a Guider voice.
“Surprised?” asked Azula, giving her awful grin.
“Yes, I am actually.”
“Cut the chatter!” yelled Aang in his State voice and he launched all the air at them, which was the force of a hurricane. All of the tanks and men fell over, except for Azula and her elite squad. One of them hurled darts at the 2. Aang easily blew them away. The one who threw the darts was obviously Mai under a mask. She then pulled up her sleeves to reveal a machine, with many holes, on her wrist. Darts were now firing like an entire army of archers firing from the machine at the 2 protectors. Aang created an air bubble around the 2 to throw off the darts and they spun away. All the Firebenders, except Azula, punched blue fire at them. The flames from the 10 guards combined into one large inferno blast. Noku and Aang fired their own fire at the incoming fire. The 2 balls collided and made an explosion so big, no one from either side could see a thing.
“AANG!!” yelled Katara.
The remains of the AoF and the GAang were just listening to the commotion of the battle as the smoke from the explosion was still everywhere. Katara and the rest were getting worried of the 2 protectors of the world.
“Toph, can you clear the smoke?!” asked Katara.
“I’ll give it a shot,” she replied.
She stomped on the ground and punched the air. Most of the smoke cleared to reveal Aang and Noku fighting like animals at the elite Firebenders. They were almost as powerful as Azula; launching blue fire and had quick reflexes. These men were obviously part of the royal family.
“So this demon managed to find some pretty good Firebenders for once. Better let me handle this,” said Noku.
He was doing the same motion as he was in front of the fort/prison. He stuck to fingers into the air, causing lightning to strike it. But when the lightning struck him, it started to rain, finally, on this horrible battlefield. He passed it on to each of his fingertips as the lightning continued to strike him.
“He’s going to unleash his lightning, RAISE SHIELDS!!” yelled Azula.
As Noku fired the lightning from each of his fingertips, the Firebenders, and Azula, made a giant fire shield. The lightning collided with it to cause another explosion as big as the previous one. Toph, again, cleared the smoke to show only 3 of the 10 Firebenders were on the ground, defeated. The others looked exhausted and weak. Aang then waterbended some of the rain together to make a humongous string of water. He whipped the soldiers with it as it reminded Katara of the time he did that when he was on Zuko’s ship in the South Pole. The rest of the Firebenders fell, except for Azula and the masked Mai.
“Nowhere to run now, it’s hopeless!” yelled Noku.
Another blast came from the sky as the last war balloon came down from Sokka, Suki, and the Freedom Fighters. Aang airbended a bubble of air below them to soften there landing. But that one moment gave Mai a chance to hurl her biggest dart at Noku (who was distracted). Noku looked at the lightning-fast flying dart. He tried to do something, but it was too late. It got him in the stomach and went right through him, exiting from his backside, as he fell to the ground bleeding and suffering from the wound.
“NOKU!!!” yelled everyone.
The GAang was no longer sitting and watching as they ran to assist their injured friend.
“That’s one down,” said Azula, giving the most evil grin she can give.
Azula and Mai then disappeared in the fog and smoke of war. Aang turned off his Avatar State and ran to Noku as well. The battle was still going in other parts of the AoF defense line, but the battle was more than won as the tanks and transports of the Fire Nation were retreating. Noku was silent, as his pulse was getting lower and lower.
“Noku, don’t you dare go away!!” yelled Toph, deeply crying and holding onto Noku’s hand while on her knees.
She can feel his heartbeat, as it was getting slower and slower…
“Quick Aang, can you bend me some water?!” asked Katara.
Aang quickly bended all the water he can get from the rain and bended it to Katara. She placed her hand on his stomach and the front wound healed. She slowly lifted Noku a bit and tried to heal his back wound, but she was running low on water already and was trying to bend some more water to her while keeping another hand on Noku’s back wound as it was still bleeding like water pouring from a dam; nonstop.
“T-Toph…”said Noku weakly as he tried to look at her.
“You’ll b-be fine, j-just hang in there,” said Toph, having tears running down her face.
“Did I e-ever tell y-you that my last n-name w-was Iwamatsu?”
“N-no you didn’t.”
Katara finally had enough water from the rain and she quickly placed her water-covered hand on Noku’s wound. She took a deep breath and hoped it was enough. The wound healed, but his pulse wasn’t returning. He had lost too much blood already and was at his last breaths.
“T-Toph,” whispered Noku again.
Toph closed her eyes and prayed in her head for him, crying so hard.
“Don’t you die now! We need you, I NEED YOU!” said Toph.
“I…I…” started Noku.
He couldn’t finish as his hand was cold and his head and his hand fell down, lifeless.
“NOKU!!!” yelled Toph.
She held onto his hand, but her senses were telling the truth as no pulse or heartbeat was beating. The GAang just stood and stared at the lifeless body of Noku. They poured into tears as well as they realized that the only pure Firebender in the Army of Freedom and the brand new Guider of the Light had perished before them…
Yes, what you read is what I typed. Noku is dead and no one specifically of the bad side died (Azula, Mai, etc.). And yes, I made Noku’s last name in honor of Makoto Iwamatsu, who we all miss dearly…WAS THAT SHOCKING OR WHAT?!
