In the new franchising model for the series adopted by EA, Shift takes its place focusing on simulation/arcade racing rather than the arcade racing of previous titles in the series. - from wikipedia

giant11

Sim, Simarcade and Arcade are 3 different types of racing games.

The game rocks and has set the bar for destruction of building/environments etc. Hours and hours of enjoyment online.

No, Red Faction Guerilla has that crown.

Physics based destruction > Scripted.

Actually the in-game lore of Sc is more than DoW lore (not counting outside source)

Blizzard is better in lore than Relic is.

Ravenchrome

What you're referring to is the story not lore.

Eastern Front. It has generally the biggest and most brutal battles of the war. Infact, its completely moronic that they haven't done it yet.

Enjoy some high quality modding in the meantime

I downloaded it when it first came out. I found the Russians to be very underpowered. Has that been fixed yet?

Why would they fix that? Sounds like an accurate representation.

I liked the CoH campaign more than SC2's but mainly because I'm more interested in WWII than some fairly cliche story with lore that pales in comparison to the likes of 40k.

Good game though, don't get me wrong.

Hmmm. I believe that is an unfair comparison. Considering that merely mentioning 40k like that is painting with an extremely broad brush that could mean any number of novels.

I'm not talking specifics like novels or the SC2 story, just the lore of both games.

How are some of those games even overrated?

Splinter Cell got horrible reviews on the PC
AC2 you haven't even played despite them fixing the main grip you had with the first
RFG you've played 10 minutes of
C&C4 got poor reviews
Need for Speed Shift isn't a sim
Just Cause 2 and Batman AA aren't overrated even if they feel "awkward"
You can't call a game overrated just because it has high requirements either.

I don't care for the feel of the game at all (very slow and sluggish) plus I hate that everyone else has magnum ammo and I don't...

THA-TODD-BEAST

Magnum ammo, just to be completely honest, doesn't make for an incredible difference like you'd think it would. Before I'd unlocked it, I was thinking the same thing, too. "I don't have Mag. Ammo yet, but these guys do! This just isn't fair." Then, when I got it, I noticed the gameplay had changed very little. You may kill them slightly quicker, but in a game in which you die from just a few shots anyways, even from long range, it really doesn't matter. Any weapon, magnum ammo or not, can kill very quickly, and if you aren't the one shooting first and you're getting hit by surprise, you'll drop dead regardless what unlocks you have.

By few do you mean a few hundred?

I just find it very off putting when i get the first couple of hit markers on a guy but he kills me regardless because he's a higher level. It's already daunting enough progressing in FPS games when the community has a rather large head start.

Anyways I've started playing hardcore mode now, it's better than standard in terms of damage you can take but still not perfect.

Ever since they released the new patch that actually allowed me to find servers close by I've been trying to get into it every now and again.

I'm pretty sure the whole idea is so you can use the overlay which is pretty handy considering on top of being able to talk to friends it also has a web browser.
